DalekSec Posted July 7, 2017 Posted July 7, 2017 Although a good (I hope) gaming spec I was actually after low noise levels and longevity rather than FPS - I play MMOs, strategy games and driving games rather the FPS games and am hoping to still have a 'reasonable' machine in 5 years time: CPU: i7700k CPU cooler: Noctua DH15 Motherboard: Asus ROG Strix 270E Gaming Memory: 16gb of Corasir Vengeance LPX 3200mzh Boot drive: Samsung 960 EVO Polaris 500gb M.2 Storage drive (Internal): Samsung Evo 850 1tb SSD Storage drive (external): WD Elements 2tb USB3 Graphics: Asus ROG Strix OC GTX1080Ti Case: Corsair Carbide 600Q Fans: Corsair ML140 * 4 (replaced stock fans) PSU: Corsair AX860i digital Monitor: AOC AGON 24" 2560*1440 G-Sync (165mhz) I carried over the speakers, KB & mouse from my prvious build - not that they are special, just couldn't afford to replace threm and they work well enough as it is. Total cost a little over £3k, been a long time since I've build a machine si took me a few hours to get it all together. Completely silent when working, web browsing or Youtubing but disappointingly noisy when gaming - those GPU fans make a lot of noise! Lacks RGB, Try again

sted Posted July 7, 2017 Posted July 7, 2017 Lacks RGB, Try again i assume rgb is just lighting if so ive never seen the point theres nowt in a pc case worth looking at lol (i did once buy 2 pc neon tubes but fitted em to my car both 12v as the boot light sucked these shoved on the side made it much better lol) 1

sted Posted July 7, 2017 Posted July 7, 2017 (edited) I only have it set to that for recording that video, i have my own custom design which is less distracting! im still guessing id hate it lol. i pulled the hp sign led from my hp g7 microserver because that annoyed me (it got shoved deep inside the case as it was powerful enough to illuminate the room it was in) again my ps4 controller light is on minimum as is anything that the lights cant be turned off on like routers etc. i remember having an aerial amp and that bugged me so much it had layers of black tape on it to hide the light Edited July 7, 2017 by sted

sted Posted July 7, 2017 Posted July 7, 2017 Are you a reverse Magpie? !wac i just find those types of lights that serve no purpose (ie dont actually light up something worth that needs to be annoying) so the aerial amp light just lit up the back of a cupboard and the wall above which i found annoying so "turned it off" ps4 controllers i have 1 controller i dont need to see its on as odds on if its on its in my hand i dont need a giant blue bar illuminating whats in front of me router lights its enough to see its working beyond that again it dosent need to powerful enough to illuminate my living room from behind a monitor. litle status lights im fine with as long as they arnt as bright as the sun but the amount of devices that have bright pointless lights on these days annoys me. take my front room if i had everything on default settings i would have a stripe on the ps4 lit up, the disk drive on the wii lit up (i think the wii-u does this as well but cant remember) router/digibox and tv all have fairly bright lights that are far bigger than needed. these lights are often on in standby mode just varying the colour i just dont see a need

Nice build though, very neat - which is another reason for me to not have a window, I'm not patient enough to keep it all that neat

I am very tempted to sell both my 1080s and buy a 1080ti with RGB, and maybe sell/swap my RAM for trident z RGB. Saying that cable mod have come out with a mod for mine that makes it kinda RGB (i would have to physically change the colour if i wanted it to change)
