A shock, one of my favourite singers. Never did get to see Soundgarden play live

Audioslave were a big part of the soundtrack to my teenage years. Terrible and awful shock! I'll have to listen to their albums later on.

One of the great bands that came out of the 90s Grunge scene. He will be sorely missed.

 

They haven't established the cause of death yet so it will be interesting to find out what happened.

Soundgarden were a cornerstone of my taste in music as a angsty teen. What a great voice, he will be sadly missed.

Seems its a suspected suicide. I have a friend that did the album cover for the re-release of an album I recorded in the late 80's. He's just posted on FB this information.

He has friends closely involved with Soundgarden and it looks like that it's true

One of the truly unique signer songwriters to come out of Grunge / Rock in the 90s and 2000s. Fortunate enough to have seen Soundgarden a couple of years ago, looks like my soundtrack for the evening is decided.

I saw Soundgarden in Wellington (NZ) Town Hall in '96 or '97 (can't remember which) and it was the LOUDEST gig I've ever been to. My ears rang for 3 days afterwards...

Couldn't believe it when I read, follow them on twitter, was big into soundgarden in teens and followed a lot of the stuff he did after that, so sad a death and sudden it seems

There's rumours that he might have done a 'Michael Hutchence' but suicide would sound better in the press.

 

I'm inclined to agree given that there were no signs of depression prior and he was in good spirits talking about later gigs during the concert. The autopsy also sounds a bit suspect.
