Joanne Posted May 18, 2017 Posted May 18, 2017 Sudden and unexpected, how awful. https://twitter.com/search?q=%22Chris%20Cornell%22&src=tren&data_id=tweet%3A865113471326842880
Bagpuss66 Posted May 18, 2017 Posted May 18, 2017 A shock, one of my favourite singers. Never did get to see Soundgarden play live 1
DeGrimmy Posted May 18, 2017 Posted May 18, 2017 (edited) Audioslave were a big part of the soundtrack to my teenage years. Terrible and awful shock! I'll have to listen to their albums later on. EDIT: BBC article, if anyone's unable to access Twitter: Chris Cornell: Audioslave and Soundgarden singer dies aged 52 - BBC News Edited May 18, 2017 by DeGrimmy 2
StevieM Posted May 18, 2017 Posted May 18, 2017 I got a text from the bass player in one of my bands to break the news. Absolutely gutted!! That's guaranteed Black Hole Sun and Fell on Black Days a place in our next set. 2

That's guaranteed Black Hole Sun and Fell on Black Days a place in our next set. I'm going to have a go at a spoons solo when I get home. That's about as far as my music talents will stretch in terms of a tribute. 1

Snoochieboochies Posted May 18, 2017 Posted May 18, 2017 One of the great bands that came out of the 90s Grunge scene. He will be sorely missed. They haven't established the cause of death yet so it will be interesting to find out what happened. 1
jthompson Posted May 18, 2017 Posted May 18, 2017 SPOOOONMAAAAN! I never could get the hang of playing the spoons. Ahh. I'd assumed it was going to be easy :|
Jowley Posted May 18, 2017 Posted May 18, 2017 Soundgarden were a cornerstone of my taste in music as a angsty teen. What a great voice, he will be sadly missed. 1
Bagpuss66 Posted May 18, 2017 Posted May 18, 2017 Seems its a suspected suicide. I have a friend that did the album cover for the re-release of an album I recorded in the late 80's. He's just posted on FB this information. He has friends closely involved with Soundgarden and it looks like that it's true The press is starting to report this.....
foofighterjim Posted May 18, 2017 Posted May 18, 2017 (edited) One of the truly unique signer songwriters to come out of Grunge / Rock in the 90s and 2000s. Fortunate enough to have seen Soundgarden a couple of years ago, looks like my soundtrack for the evening is decided. Edited May 18, 2017 by foofighterjim 1
kearton Posted May 18, 2017 Posted May 18, 2017 I saw Soundgarden in Wellington (NZ) Town Hall in '96 or '97 (can't remember which) and it was the LOUDEST gig I've ever been to. My ears rang for 3 days afterwards...
admars Posted May 18, 2017 Posted May 18, 2017 confirmed suicide now Official: Chris Cornell Committed Suicide by Hanging | MetalSucks
rich_tech Posted May 18, 2017 Posted May 18, 2017 Couldn't believe it when I read, follow them on twitter, was big into soundgarden in teens and followed a lot of the stuff he did after that, so sad a death and sudden it seems
Snoochieboochies Posted May 19, 2017 Posted May 19, 2017 confirmed suicide now Official: Chris Cornell Committed Suicide by Hanging | MetalSucks There's rumours that he might have done a 'Michael Hutchence' but suicide would sound better in the press. I'm inclined to agree given that there were no signs of depression prior and he was in good spirits talking about later gigs during the concert. The autopsy also sounds a bit suspect.
