Worldwide Twitter Accounts Hacked

It has been advised to revoke all 3rd party app access from your Twitter account(s) and change password(s)

 

Big (inter)national verified accounts have been affected.

If you don't use their service then surely there isn't any​ need to reset/revoke access to all third-party Twitter clients​?

@Arthur I am not sure to be with honest with you which specific 3rd party apps were affected / used etc... all I know is that many Twitter accounts have been 'hacked' as some (UK) ones I follow were on my timeline earlier and many suggested checking / or revoking your authorised 3rd party apps.

 

Not had chance to check latest recommendations / updates; I just wanted to make EduGeek'ers aware etc.

As far as I know mine is fine...

 

I've had no 2factor prompts.

 

Though, it does sound like it's time for an access review.

The thing I was worried about if I revoked access to every third-party Twitter client I use (and have used in the past) is not being able to re-authorise the clients that have already reached their API token limit.

In my humble opinion if your allowing any third party apps/websites access to your social media accounts then you have forfeited all rights to any sort of security.

 

So many random websites and apps are like "hey why don't you log into me with your facebook account, that's it nice and slow now type the password for me, mmmm yum, oh and by the way, in the small print I reserve the right to do WHATEVER I want with your account/photos/words/lists/friends" thank you very much for that"

 

You'd have to be mad.
