IE11 GPO Maintenance settings missing

I am having problems with ie11 proxy settings and when I look for them in group policy they are missing.

I have sought advice via the internet, Microsoft support pages and anywhere I can.

I have checked both domain computers and servers as well as standalone pcs at home and I cannot find the 'Maintenance' settings.

 

Any ideas anyone?

Maintenance is no longer used for newer versions, you need to switch to User Configuration / Preferences / Control Panel Settings / Internet Settings

Thanks ITGuru. There is nothing there in Windows 7 but I have found an article that seems to say if I upgrade to Windows 8 then I will be able to do it.

That seems ridiculous or am I wrong?

No you need to be using Windows 8/10 to manage gpp IE preferences rsat. Or server 2012 upwards.

Those settings disappeared with IE10 coming along. GPP, pac or registry nowadays.

This is one that's been giving me great grief as well. We are a W7 Server 2012 Environment and since migrating from Server 2008 to Server 2012 increasingly and for some bizarre reason clients have sporadically been picking up a proxy setting that seems to lurk somewhere on our system from the days of NT. Logging off then back on again brings up the correct proxy but causes a heap of frustration.

Although we are Windows 7 with Serve 2008R2, it was the fact that some of our desktops suddenly displayed proxy settings from 2/3 years ago that got me travelling down this road.

I think the easiest way to fix this is to run RSAT on a Windows 8 or higher client - you should then be able to deploy the policies included in the more recent admx templates found on later editions of server OS.

If you have a 2012+ server at all that's not a domain controller just save an MMC console shortcut on the desktop and add the snap in to your domain controller?

I seem to remember similar IE settings woes although can't remember exact specifics or the ultimate resolution though...

 

It stemmed from the fact that the old settings resided within the GPO that was no longer accessible when we upgraded to 2012R2.

 

As others have said the settings for IE11 are in GPP now and you cannot access the old settings in the original GPO to delete them.

 

There was a workaround I'm sure, hopefully others will be able to chime in or it will set you on the right path...

I seem to remember it having something to do with using a Win7 pc with IE9 and using RSAT revealed the setting in the GPO and it could be edited from there...

We have set up an old PC with a fresh copy of XP and added the GP Editor on that but even with that set up the culprit still isn't visible.

Can you not just delete the corresponding policy directly from Sysvol? (I agree it's a pain. I still have a couple of schools on Server 2008/ie11, and have to control the settings with scripts).
