[iphone] Getting data off phone onto Windows 7

I don't particularly trust iCloud, I am planning on going into the o2 shop Thursday and getting a new phone. Does anyone know any software that'll run on windows that'll let me access the majority of photos on my phone. My ICloud doesnt seem to pick up Whatsapp pics that have been sent to me. (EG. I don't have whatsapp add photos to my camera roll, so they're all contained on the whatsapp chats) and i'm sure there's a few other things it will not put onto the cloud.

 

as a side note, if you backup whatsapp from iphone, will it get all the pictures and videos too when you restore it?

Does the job, however not sure how far I'd trust it personally. Might be worth checking out if you're stuck for anything else though.

An iPhone? If you plug it in via USB, Windows sees it as a storage device and you can access the photos directly. Mine does, on my Windows 7 work PC.

I back my contacts up to icloud. I've done several complex address book transfers for Mr gee40 to/from Blackberry, iphone and android depending on his employer and find google contacts as good a place as any to sort the mess out.

 

I can't see why using whatsapp's own backup wouldn't backup the message images too.

iTunes should let you back the photos up to your PC though:

Presumably if you're not getting another iPhone, you're getting an Android. When I had problems moving photos from my Android phone, I found the most reliable way was with Google photos - you can always delete the photos from Google of you don't want them left there.

 

Tbh of you've currently got them on Snapchat, I wouldn't be more worried about either Google photos or icloud...

You will need to use a cloud service to back them up, personally I don't understand what your problem with iCloud is, with 2 step verification it's certainly a lot more secure than using What's App which is notoriously insecure..

You should try and keep your phone to transfer all of your stuff (I know that HTC phones support cross platform transfers) and then when everything has been switched over you can hand in your iPhone for trade in.

iMazing will, although the trial version limits how many files/photos you can transfer.

When i moved my icloud storage location on my pc to a different HDD and it redownloaded them all, there was an unexplained ~700mb size discrepancy, and the folders downloaded in a different structure.

The limit is really low like 3 or 5 files. However, I guess if it works it might be worth buying?

Again, dont think this backs up stuff within apps not in camera roll.

 

No bother, I've bought a new phone and get it tomorrow, then have 14 days to work out what to do with my iphone before sending it off.

W10 phones store WhatsApp pictures in an accessible folder. Just sayin'.
