kennysarmy Posted February 3, 2017 Posted February 3, 2017 In light of the threat from Malware... Is it a good idea to force all staff to have to show file extensions? Anyone implemented such a GPO?
Michael Posted February 3, 2017 Posted February 3, 2017 The default view is to hide known extensions, so I would leave it like that. There's always the risk the end user renames all of the file (including the extension), as was the case on older versions of Windows where it was visible by default. I know Windows prompts the end user when they do this, but not everyone reads warning messages!
LeMarchand Posted February 3, 2017 Posted February 3, 2017 Sounds like a good idea until you consider how many staff would even know what the difference between a jpg and an exe is.
