zag Posted January 23, 2017 Posted January 23, 2017 Just got an emailer from cityfibre saying they are launching in our city. The pricing of around 3k a year looks very competitive compared to our current BT install. Its so cheap I could potentially use it as a backup line Anyone got any experience with them?
zag Posted January 24, 2017 Author Posted January 24, 2017 (edited) Just got full pricing through, 2,000 install cost and 250 a month. That's not bad at all. Edited January 24, 2017 by zag
Max_Power Posted January 24, 2017 Posted January 24, 2017 That 500 meg up and down on an uncontested line?
zag Posted January 24, 2017 Author Posted January 24, 2017 That 500 meg up and down on an uncontested line? Apparently yes. Looking into it as a backup line at first, but may switch to it if proven. You can check the availability here https://www.cityfibre.com/ and even see where the network passes.
DrCheese Posted January 24, 2017 Posted January 24, 2017 We've been on the cityfibre 1gb services since September last year - Not had a single issue since - A huge improvement over our previous service!
FN-GM Posted January 24, 2017 Posted January 24, 2017 Its at times like this I wish I could get it, or B4RN
Achandler Posted January 24, 2017 Posted January 24, 2017 They don't cover Manchester, nor London, nor Birmingham from what I can tell. 3 biggest cities in the country. very annoying!
FN-GM Posted January 24, 2017 Posted January 24, 2017 A lot of activity from City Fibre this year, they will be enabling a lot more towns and cities this year and acquiring more network assets Do you have a list of towns please?
Chris_ Posted January 24, 2017 Posted January 24, 2017 Do you have a list of towns please? About 2/3rds of thwe way down the page: https://www.cityfibre.com/gigabit-cities/

Oaktech Posted January 24, 2017 Posted January 24, 2017 We had Gigler, who are a subsidiary, at my last place and we had full gig both ways was absolutely magic! The service was excellent, the price was excellent, I can't really fault them.

john Posted January 24, 2017 Posted January 24, 2017 They don't cover Manchester, nor London, nor Birmingham from what I can tell. 3 biggest cities in the country. very annoying! However several companies do operate fibre networks in these locations so you have options if you research.
zag Posted January 25, 2017 Author Posted January 25, 2017 However several companies do operate fibre networks in these locations so you have options if you research. I think the really groundbreaking thing here is cityfibre's pricing compared to the traditional incumbents. 3K a year for a business line that is un-contended 500mbit was unheard of until now.
Achandler Posted January 26, 2017 Posted January 26, 2017 Indeed @zag it is the price which is surprising, I know fo a lto of companies offering fibre and I know how to research thanks John!
