Hi there,

Pen stopped working for one of the users. I have done all i could but its still no go.

I've done:

Unplugging usb for 1 min

powering down board for 5 min

repairing drivers installation

restarting PC

Flame on the board is white but as soon as I touch it with a pen it goes red. After repairing drivers installation it connects for one second and goes off again. I tried with different pen and the same happens.

Did anyone had similar problem?

Thank you

M

Haven't had the same problem but could you try:

1. Plugging the USB cable from the board into a different port on the computer?

2. Try a different computer (or a laptop) with the board? [Limit the problem to the computer or the board/cable]

HTH.

Correct a typo.

Have you tried a previous driver?

From memory at my last school we had a similar issue and tried a previous driver. It worked with the previous driver so left it with that until the current driver was actually working.

Hi

Do you know the model and size of the board? have you tried calibrating the board?

these might help as well as the above suggestions

Ours sometimes do this, it is usually a case of powering off/on the board, swapping to a different USB port, or replacing the USB->cat5 extenders that we have to use on the newer boards (due to USB cable length limits), Sometimes a pen just stops working for no reason and it's the pen at fault, in which case it gets binned and they get a new pen.

The other thing to try if it is a new enough board to have teacher/student pens (dark grey/light grey), if there is interference it will stop one of them from working - we've had interference from an RFID door access controller on the other side of the wall stopping the teacher pen from working. Also had a room where we had to disable touch for unknown reasons (board worked fine in the corridor, get it 3 inches across the doorway and it was like someone mashing the mouse), in the end we just said the room was cursed.

Hi All,

Thank you very much for your advice. It is sorted now. I tried installing older version of drivers but had error message coming up about missing file (sorry don't know exact message). So i tried newer version of drivers 5.11(5.8 was the original drivers) and that worked.

No doubt this PC will bring me more grief but for now its sorted.

Thanks again.

There's an issue with all ActivDrivers above 5.7 when using a USB > Serial cable. It's pretty shoddy that they've never bothered to fix the issue in newer driver releases. This is an issue that goes back 6 years!

They still havent fixed that!! I left my old school 2 years ago and it was an issue then! version 5.7 is the driver I left all the boards on. no doubt it hasn't changed

Yeah - I had this a while ago - finding the drivers on the WWW is a right pain - I ended up ring the promethian support and was lucky enough to get hold of someone who knew where they were
