Hi,

We have just finished a project of deploying Office 2016 to roughly 700 Windows 7 clients. This project involved using a script to run OffScrub10 to remove Office 2010 and the customization tool to build the package for Office 2016. Both of which were deployed using SCCM. Both the deployments went fine however I have now encountered errors regarding file association. I've pushed out the relevant "Open with" group policy folder option preferences for the office formats but they don't seem to be applying. When I run gpresult and scroll down to where its applying my file associations I can see all my other associations have run successfully but on the docx and the other Office file formats I can see its failing and showing "Result: Failure(Error Code: 0x80070005)"

I think this might be an authentication error but not sure. Anybody any suggestions?

Thanks :)

Anyone any ideas? Can't seem to crack this. I have taken a few screenshots: - Default.jpg Excel.jpg GPO settings.jpg I had a little play this morning with the xlsx and gpupdated the test machine I was working on.

I think I have fixed 99% of the issues by pushing out a User Configuration Registry change that basically deletes SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\FileExts\.docx\UserChoice from the registry. Obviously push out additional reg changes and change the .docx for your other Office formats. We still get the occasional user that has issues but simply deleting their profiles seems to fix this.
