Gongalong Posted January 10, 2017 Posted January 10, 2017 Hi folks, We've just flattened and reinstalled a Linx 10V64 with Win 10 Education, only to discover that it doesn't pick up a lot of the drivers. I've found most at linxtablet .co .uk, but the touchscreen and audio are still not working. By chance does anyone have the drivers for these? So far nil response from Linx support. Thanks
Gongalong Posted January 10, 2017 Author Posted January 10, 2017 OK, Linx have sent through the drivers so the audio issue is solved. Now trying to identify what is the touchscreen driver...
Gongalong Posted January 10, 2017 Author Posted January 10, 2017 To follow up, Linx support say the touchscreen doesn't work on Win 10 Pro editions (including Education it seems). Bizarre!
timbo343 Posted January 10, 2017 Posted January 10, 2017 Oh. We have the LINX 1010B and it uses the GOODIX Touch HID driver if that helps. 1
Norphy Posted January 10, 2017 Posted January 10, 2017 Do you have one still running its pre-installed OS? If so, you can use the Export-WindowsDriver PowerShell cmdlet to do a dump of all installed drivers on the laptop. https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dn614084.aspx 1
timbo343 Posted January 10, 2017 Posted January 10, 2017 Yeah its still running the pre installed OS which is Win10 Home. Leave it with me, ill see what i can do. 1
timbo343 Posted January 10, 2017 Posted January 10, 2017 Ive just had a thought, this linx is running the 32bit version of windows 10. 1
Gongalong Posted January 11, 2017 Author Posted January 11, 2017 @Norphy: Unfortunately we just have the one, but we're debating whether to reinstall the factory image. The user really wants the touchscreen to work.
Gongalong Posted January 11, 2017 Author Posted January 11, 2017 @timbo343: We found a Goodix driver among the drivers sent from Linx, but the installer says there's a problem. I've tried just the INF file, but it still doesn't work. As mentioned above, we're debating whether to put the factory image back on to just check it works, and see if we can spot what the difference is. Potentially that it's Win 10 32 bit!
timbo343 Posted January 11, 2017 Posted January 11, 2017 I'd be tempted to put the factory image back on. I think the newer linx tablets support the x64 OS but these 1010Bs (early generation Linx) only support the x86 OS. I can upload the drivers and give you the link but they are only x86 drivers that were exported. 1
Gongalong Posted January 18, 2017 Author Posted January 18, 2017 We got the touchscreen working. My colleague contacted Linx and they sent *another* set of drivers, after telling me there was no solution. These are an updated set for the Linx 10v64. This has a driver called "SileadTouchDriver". In Device Manager you need to point to the device under Human Interface Devices > KMDF HID Minidriver for Touch I2C Device manually to the driver folder, as a driver update. Then follow the other instruction that Linx send, to copy the file "SileadTouch.fw" to c:/windows/system32/drivers, and reboot.

Gongalong Posted January 18, 2017 Author Posted January 18, 2017 Certainly annoying to get one answer, then a different answer. My pet peeve is people that won't say "don't know" when they don't know, although I guess there's a chance that in the last day or two they've got a different set of drivers.
dta7203 Posted January 19, 2017 Posted January 19, 2017 (edited) The Powershell Export-Drivers tool worked for us, with the exception of the touchscreen which had some teething issues. However my network manager has taken this to a crazy level and demanded that we build the damn things with iPXE and WDS via a USB Ethernet Device and a hub. And they only accept UEFI! Anyone know how to make this work? Edited January 19, 2017 by dta7203

Anyone know how to make this work? Assuming you can PXE boot them with that set up, @Arthur probably does! I had a UEFI problem http://www.edugeek.net/forums/o-s-deployment/169815-uefi-image-problems.html there may be some pointers there. I really must document things instead of assuming I'll remember them!

Anyone know how to make this work? PXE booting from UEFI is easy enough if the device can support it and you're running WDS on Windows Server 2012 or better. It should just work™. However, The Linx device I played with a couple of years ago couldn't boot from PXE. What your PHB wants may not be possible.
localzuk Posted March 15, 2017 Posted March 15, 2017 How did you guys get on with this in the end? We've just bought 10 of these for SEN use at one of our schools. Ideally, I want to add them to the domain, but it isn't an absolute necessity.
Gongalong Posted March 27, 2017 Author Posted March 27, 2017 The proper drivers fixed our issue, but we only have one so aren't imaging.
Wirral_Wonderer Posted June 14, 2017 Posted June 14, 2017 Where did you get the video drivers from as I am struggling to find them?
round2it Posted June 14, 2017 Posted June 14, 2017 (edited) i just upgraded to 10 education via change product key with no issues. no other keys worked pro or enterprise. but managed to bitlocker the drive with no issues. Edited June 14, 2017 by round2it
