amusch Posted February 25, 2008 Posted February 25, 2008 I have a student that created a document using "Pages" on her Mac at home. However, she took it to school, but can't print it, because we have all pc's. Does anyone know of any program or any way that I can convert this for her? Thanks in advance!

pallen Posted February 25, 2008 Posted February 25, 2008 I tend to try and open things in Open Office if they have been created in some other software. However, if it is for work done at home, I tend to advise them to do a save as and change the format to either an ealier version of word, or an rtf. 1

I also save them as PDF too. For Keynote I save as powerpoint, flash and PDF. I still don't bother with Numbers but friends do and they tend to save as .xls anyway for ease. 1

Otherwise as stated above when using pages go to the save as option and just save it as the relevant format.

impy2101 Posted March 7, 2010 Posted March 7, 2010 Hi, what am I missing here? I downloaded the program and it looked for an .xml file to convert. Pages creates documents with a .pages extension. I'm dying to try this program. :-)

Extract the xml file from index.tar.gz inside it (.pages documents aren't files, they're containers). 3. Use the add button to add the file to the converted list 4. Repeat 5. Push Convert to TXT button to convert.

editor Posted November 29, 2010 Posted November 29, 2010 When you want to convert Pages 09 files, change the .pages extension to .zip Click on the zip file and this will unpack a folder that has the same name as the zip file, inside that folder will be a folder called quick look which will contain a preview.pdf and a thumbnail.jpg. The preview.pdf is a pdf of the content. You can cut and paste the copy from here into a word file or a text file, although you may have to reformat (i.e., delete paragraph marks at end of each line) to make it more reader friendly.

Push Convert to TXT button to convert. Your info is quite a help because I have bveen trying to find a way to create actual .pages template files that are recognized as actual pages templates. I am working with a jailbroken iPad so I can get to the file system and have a look around. My question is, how would I create my own templates? I want actual templates that are displayed when I select new document; not simple documents to be used/reused as templates. Hope that is clear. Are there tutorials on the web that you (or anyone here) can point me towards? Herb

jimmytony3 Posted February 4, 2012 Posted February 4, 2012 The easiest way i know is to use zamzar.com it is a free online file converter which can convert from/to just about any file format. you upload the file, tell them what to make it into, and give them an email address to send the link to the converted file. conversions usually take less than a minute (longer for large files), and can be downloaded for three days after conversion. Quick and easy... I like that.
idontknowanything Posted September 24, 2012 Posted September 24, 2012 I'm having similar issues. Saved a .pages doc on my work iMac... have access to only the pages file (not compressed) and am on a PC at home now needing to work on it, with Windows 2003! . Aaah I really need a MacBook at home!!
