Zammo Posted November 22, 2016 Posted November 22, 2016 Hello, Just wanted to double check something. Our OVS is due to expire on 31st December. We have of course gone to get quotes from multiple suppliers etc, and selected the cheapest. However the reseller tells me we cant place an order, renew etc until after 31st December... Is this correct? Do we not need to sign documents etc in advance? I'm just concerned we will find ourselves in trouble if we appear to let the OVS expire before signing a new deal Thanks!
mukz Posted November 22, 2016 Posted November 22, 2016 We have always renewed/fresh agreement a month before. I am pretty sure the anniversary date stays also unless it is a fresh agreement of course.
Sylv3r Posted November 22, 2016 Posted November 22, 2016 We've always renewed in advance and the new agreement just starts the following day from when the previous one is up.
robk Posted November 22, 2016 Posted November 22, 2016 Order processed during the month before, Just doing ours at the moment.
Boredguy Posted November 23, 2016 Posted November 23, 2016 We normally send the order to the supplier the month before, but that is due to our renewal falling at the end of July *after* the finance staff have gone on their summer break. Don't normally have any issues.
steve_forbes Posted November 23, 2016 Posted November 23, 2016 You will need to place your order before then, the problem that resellers have at the moment is that they don't have the new pricing that comes in to effect on the 1st Jan 2017 and from Microsoft's perspective a renewal due on the 31st Dec falls into the new year! So currently a reseller can't quote you for your renewal in the new year unless they take a guess at what the pricing might be - they have given us rough indications. We are expecting to get the new pricing on the 5th December at which point we can quote for the new year renewals. Hope that helps, Steve
ITGURU Posted November 23, 2016 Posted November 23, 2016 Ours expires end of January, and usually put in the order in December, but due to the pricing change in Jan, I have been told to wait until we return after Christmas. AS it takes a while for our large orders to be signed and processed, they said it would be covered if payment isn't received by 31st Jan. Also with being part way through a 3 year contract, apparently this is good for pricing as it's a renewal price rather than new price.
