We've got a Bodet system that seems to work well. Had it about a year, now. IP-based (wired, PoE), does bells and tannoy. Tannoy almost never used because nobody wants it to be their voice, but it's there if needed, and is wired to some alarm pulls / panic buttons for specific emergencies. I didn't implement it, however, so don't know all the details.

We're a supplier and installer of the Netgenium IP Speaker system. We've installed this into a number of schools as a school-wide tannoy system. All speakers are native IP devices and share the common functionality of a standard RJ45 interface, an on board amplifier, power from PoE and configuration using a web browser.

 

The schools that have installed it, have been really happy with the solution. Where clients have wanted to go with a more traditional model, we have installed Penton speakers.

Funnily enough I was going to suggest this. 2 birds with one stone They are beasty blighters though, very deep! Can be recorded messages or use pre-recorded ones, audio files etc.

If you have an VoIP phone system you'll generally find the handsets have a "tannoy" function. We have handsets in all our classrooms, so we just needed to add a couple of receivers in some corridoor areas and we were done - we used the SNOM PA 1 where we needed a speaker but didn't have a phone, you can hook that up to (low powered) passive speakers or something heaftier if there's power available.

We are looking at replacing the WiFi, but I'm more inclined towards Meraki at the moment. Moving towards centralising all our services, MDM, wireless and switching to Meraki. The biggest benefit is ease of setup and management.

We have the LGfL VoIP solution around the school. But, I don't think it includes a tannoy function. The handsets we have around the school are Cisco 3905 and Cisco 7861.

The handsets we have around the school are Cisco 3905 and Cisco 7861.

 

Your handsets just need to support multicast audio - we use Yealink handsets which do, but check the manuals or yours and see what they support. Our handsets can produce multicast audio when a user presses the "page all" button, but you all sort of things can produce multicast audio, including VLC, so you should be able to test simply by having VLC play some audio and seeing what can pick it up.

Hi, I'd ask your help desk about this ... the lgfl voip system has a tannoy built into it but I think needs a local router but certainly works with the 3905 handsets you have
