Hi,

We have the default Windows background set on all machines, and we have also copied an image to "User Account Pictures" on each machine.

When I tried the anniversary update in the holidays it breaks all of this and you get a different lock background each day and it also removes the user account pictures.

I have downloaded and installed the latest gpo's.

I have set this on a computer gpo:

Control Panel/Personalization

Policy Setting Comment

Do not display the lock screen Enabled

Force a specific default lock screen and logon image Enabled

Path to lock screen image: ‪C:\Windows\Web\Wallpaper\Windows\img0.jpg

Example: Using a local path: C:\windows\web\screen\lockscreen.jpg

Example: Using a UNC path: \\Server\Share\Corp.jpg

I have also set Configure Windows spotlight on lock screen Disabled on a user gpo.

The background image its getting is before a user locks on so I think its a Computer GPO somewhere. Has anyone done the update and had these issues?

Thanks

Over half term I've taken the decision to remove the lock screen altogether. There were a few members of staff who didn't know how to get past it...

this might explain when testing Pro x64 with 1607 that doesnt seem to be allowing me to change the default logon background and the lock screen.

frustrating if this is the case...

why remove this from Pro and not the others why are they taking stuff away from pro...

huh? So people can't lock their computers anymore?

The lock screen you are thinking of is different from the lock screen you get when you lock a computer (via WinKey + L or CTRL+ALT+DEL). :)

They can still lock it :) I've just disabled the initial lock screen / image that you get when Windows 10 boots. So now when they lock their computer it presents the login screen.

having reformatted my test image and reinstalled 1607 and added my customization's it appears to be behaving, interestingly i left photo editor/viewer in place and all of my changes have actually held :)

Has the location of the user images changed? Was previously %programdata%\Microsoft\User Account Pictures\ but replacing/deleting the files in there no longer seems to have any impact.

locations are still the same for the logon pictures i also apply the gpo option to force the same image to all users

That's bizarre then; even when I manually swap out or delete User-192.png from said location, old faithful stays in place.

The same happens for me.

Also I think the GPO option is another thing Microsoft have made Education or Enterprise only

Do the Registry settings for those GPOs not work in Pro either?

Force a specific default lock screen and logon image

REG ADD "HKLM\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\Personalization" /v LockScreenImage /t REG_SZ /d c:\locationtofile\image.bmp /f

Apply the default account picture to all users

REG add "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer" /v UseDefaultTile /t REG_DWORD /d 1 /f
