Cunninghams.. Don't pay for the new notes!

You have to buy a DA2 cable, and you also need a power (borrow one from science) that gives out 10V (I think) and about 1.2Amps.

 

The cable is £30 or so. We followed the instructions on the website but our note reader kept flashing us an error, and it was because the power supply we had only had 1amp of power. We did in the end send ours off to Innovative Tech to do, its taken 2 weeks which is annoying but cost us £20, we dropped it off in eprson but obviously you can post it to them.

 

Either way, if you have multiple revals get a cable and power supply, if you only have 1 note reader reval then the choice is yours, £60 total for 3 reflashes from Innovtive or buy a cable and do them yourself (about £30-£50)

It cost us around £4 for the cable and that was the only cost to us. You need a laptop power supply to power the one end of the cable and the other end just plugs into your note reader. Best thing to do is to take out the note reader and see who the manufacturer is and contact them. They will help you and it was free for us.

This is pretty infuriating, as I specifically asked our client manager and a support engineer if the firmware upgrade was something we could do in house, as there was quite a wait for the engineer visits. "No", they said, "that'll be £395 + VAT please."

 

That's a new projector / pc / laptop for someone down the swanny

Yes I agree, you would assume it was part of the contract?! Obviously not. Myself and the school's business manager have scheduled to meet with the RSM. We'll see if we can twist his arm haha! I'll keep you posted on my findings on Monday.

Good luck. Unfortunately we've already paid for the reader to be swapped out by their engineer, so not really helped the cause!

I contacted [email protected] and they came back to me with some very detailed instructions on what to do, what is needed, etc. They asked for a photo of the unit and confirmed the model and the procedure. I was just going to get everything ordered and start prepping to do it then I heard our new Business Manager had already raised an order with Cunninghams to get it done! Tsk! Still, will be useful when the new £10 and £20 notes come out.

No they don't, still haven't had a chance to investigate the coin mech yet.

We are just labelling the machines "does not accept new notes", and our caterer has supported us migrating to ParentPay. Our reval units will be allowed to fade away! We are not paying upgrades!

Might be useful or not, we have the older NV10 unit that doesn't support the upgrade. £135 direct replacement I was quoted from the manufacturer thought it's one thing to do a firmware upgrade and another to replace the whole unit without Cunningham noticing re support..

Done the upgrades both for the coin and note..... not sure if these has been asked before but what happens at the end of the co-circulation period? How do I stop my machines being the dumping ground for any old £5 notes or £1 coins in our local community???

Coin units £14 to reprogram. Doing two now for New£ only with old disabled. Leaving two on round£. Dropping to just two revals as we are pushing ParentPey.

Also buying two note units with old fiver disabled.

Local for us, Bolton; but still not dear by post.

Just found this thread - very interesting! I contacted Cunninghams last week to enquire about disabling the old £10 notes after 1st March. The cost I was quoted was £195 for an engineer to come out and do the 'free' firmware update.

 

Having found this thread I contacted Innovative Technology. We have two of the NV10+USB note readers. The DA3 device programming pack which incorporates its own power source (assuming batteries) is only £42! And they can provide instructions and the firmware for free.
