sted Posted September 22, 2016 Posted September 22, 2016 So is anyone else going to be playing this when its out tomorrow (or sometime next week depending on the version) As its the first cross play title ive bought might try it on my pc as well though i suspect its going to run badly if at all on my "gaming laptop" nvidia 555 or my nuc intel 4000 lol
tmoon-mint Posted September 22, 2016 Posted September 22, 2016 Its only out tomorrow for those that bought the ultimate edition isn't it? Normal release date as far as I know is the 27th. I do have the ultimate edition pre loaded on my Xbox One (Yup console version) ready to go though. Excited

ZeroHour Posted September 22, 2016 Posted September 22, 2016 I am pretty tempted by the Standard Edition.
flyinghaggis Posted September 22, 2016 Posted September 22, 2016 I like that it's one of the first cross-platform games which lets you run it on both xbox and Windows providing you buy the digital copy via the MS Store. The reviews are looking really positive as well. The thing which is holding me back is the lack of realism to the driving. I tried the demo and whilst driving along the beach I actually drove out into the ocean to see what would happen. All it does is slow you down slightly! Likewise you can happily plough through a field at 100mph with only a minor speed penalty. I wonder if there'll be any scope for modding it on the PC version as I think the game engine and premise is fantastic but I'd like to see a tweaked version which punishes you more for going off-roading or swimming in your Lamborghini. Hopefully there will be options to customise some of these things.

Recore is cross platform as well, it was the first released really other than the Quantum Break preorder which got you a code for both versions. Recore isnt bad either tbh at £29.99. Gears of War 4 out next month is also cross platform and Amazon sells codes for them all. The cross platform works well, saves automatically sync from my pc to xbox when I play on either. If anyone is in the Xbox Beta program you should be able to search for the club "EduGeek" and add yourself to that. Edited September 22, 2016 by ZeroHour
sted Posted September 23, 2016 Author Posted September 23, 2016 recore i might get if they can patch the long load times down Well after a 50gb download to my laptop it says your laptop dosent meet system requirements video card dosent support dx12 (iirc) couldnt they have a quick download that tests this before you download the game? I enjoyed playing it for a few hours before work this morning (would of been lobner but xbox wanted a 400mb update (and as always the last 50-80 takes longer to download than the rest of the patch) then the game wanted 1.5gb update isnt this why you leave it in low power mode rather than off so this dosent happen?) its definately pretty and good fun. As to not slowing down in water/fields etc the horizon series is arcadey its not supposed to if you want more realism then the straight forza series is more your game. To me its a spiritual successor to project gotham racing (or if you go back to the dreamcast metropolis street racer)
mikeyd101 Posted September 23, 2016 Posted September 23, 2016 I might venture out and get this one (on PC), I loved test drive unlimited back in the day and I'm done buying consoles (although I'm having dirty thoughts about getting NX), these days i'd rather invest the money into my PC. The only other caveat is that it works with my wheel and pedals (fanatec CSW/CSP v2). I'm a huge Sim racing fan (Assetto Corsa is my most played title), and love pretty much any driving game, glad to see the PC finally getting some love from Forza Guys.

sted Posted September 24, 2016 Author Posted September 24, 2016 Are you in the preview? no dont see the point for a console i just want it to work
ZeroHour Posted September 24, 2016 Posted September 24, 2016 no dont see the point for a console i just want it to work Oh I thought the update was only for xbox preview problems with the Forza save.
flyinghaggis Posted September 24, 2016 Posted September 24, 2016 (edited) Just seen a story saying they're planning on releasing a couple of expansion packs for this in the near future which look at though they extend the map. One thing worth bearing in mind is that the Forza Horizons 3 "Ultimate" edition doesn't automatically give you access to these expansions. So even if you buy the £80 (ouch!) ultimate version of the game you'll still have to pony up another £20 for the season pass if you want to access the extra areas. Forza Horizon 3 DLC Pass Announced, Adds to Ultimate Edition's Content - GameSpot It feels a bit underhand to me selling such an expensive "ultimate" version of the game which doesn't include access to the expansion packs which are out in a couple of months time. Given most of the DLC is just cosmetic stuff it's probably more cost effective to get the standard version and then buy the season pass for the expansions at a later date. sted Posted September 24, 2016 Author Posted September 24, 2016 Oh I thought the update was only for xbox preview problems with the Forza save. no idea but my warthog has gone wasnt in game so i uninstalled and cant see to reinstall £20 for more dlc sucks but storm island for 2 shows me they do know what they are doing and that was cheaper for ultimate owners

L3OUGH Posted September 26, 2016 Posted September 26, 2016 I've got for it PC. Gamertag is L3OUGH. Hit level 32 last night. Loving it now they fixed the damn VIP/Car Pass PC users were having. Loving it! Can't run it at 60fps though without stuttering which is a little disappointing! Thought my rig would be able to handle it.
flyinghaggis Posted September 26, 2016 Posted September 26, 2016 I caved in a bought it yesterday so hopefully my rig will run it OK. I have a Geforce 980 but a 3440x1440p monitor so I may need to drop the detail level down a bit to keep it smooth! Just went for the standard version so will need to wait until tomorrow before I can play it.

DeGrimmy Posted September 29, 2016 Posted September 29, 2016 I've got an i5 3570k (see "Minimum specifications" for the game... D: ) so I'm not able to run it at 60fps either. I thought my 970 might be able to bear the brunt, but never mind... I bought the standard edition. It's a really fun game that really gives me the Test Drive Unlimited nostalgia, but it's just reinforcing the whole "Oh $deity, most of my rig is 4 years old now" knowledge that I've been trying my hardest to ignore... I had a lot of stuttering issues with the Nvidia game ready driver for the game, but reverting to the previous driver has made it run at a solid 30fps now. I just have to ignore the huge "Unsupported driver" warning message that pops up every time I load it up!

I've never seen a GTX970 get classed as minimum before!! I must say though my rig runs it pretty solidly at 30fps @1080p on ultra. I do get some stuttering in Surfers Paradise and a little in the forest during off road racing. Might just knock it down to high settings just to keep it at a solid 30fps, but those 2 areas are the only 2 I experience lag. Hit level 46 last night I think. I really have missed this game. I also hope they bring out a patch the fix the awful performance I think everyone gets in the Horizon Festivals when working on the cars (Engine, handling, body kits etc). That's reallllly painful at the minute!

Yeah, the minimum specs are quite mad! Mind you, the detail Turn 10 put into the Forza series, I suppose they either wanted to do it justice on PC... That, or the port sucks! That's reallllly painful at the minute! I thought that was just me! I wondered if it was my network configuration. Hopefully it'll get fixed soon, although I imagine any update will have to go through the approval process like it does on Xbox One.
GuyJD Posted October 11, 2016 Posted October 11, 2016 I can't get this to work on my PC, it just gets to the Playground Games logo and crashes, I tried all of the workarounds that they suggest but nothing gets it any further, works great on my xbox though lol I prefer FH2 though, I think I just prefer the south of France location and what seems like less trees to hit, you can pretty much guarantee that if you go of road in FH3 and there is one lonesome tree you will hit it no matter what you do.

They apparently patched the PC version to improve performance on PC rigs some time in the last 2 weeks, I still can't run 60fps and the lag when tuning cars is still horrendous. But hey, I got my pre-order car at last!!
