I made the mistake of buying the 16GB iPhone 6 when it was released. Fed up now with it telling me I'm low on storage.

 

Glad they got rid of 16GB but I suspect the new entry level 32GB will be in the same position in a year or so. So it looks like 128GB is the safest bet.

 

Excited for the new + dual camera. Having never owned any of the + models before I'm sure I'll get used to it.

 

Now the decision is either the Jet Black or the normal Black. Both same price for 128GB! Decisions decisions!

 

Also gusted I was to impatient and bought the watch last year. Wish I had waited now for series 2 with it being waterproof!

 

I made that mistake also with the SE, BUT the photos take most of the space, the whole point of "optimised storage" I thought was to save space, but the photos app still takes over 50% even when only a low version is stored on the actual device.

I had that space issue with the 4S I had after two years of ownership, I imagine it will be the same with the 32gb edition as already pointed out, especially given the increase in camera quality in the newest version so the pictures and videos taken become huge file sizes.

 

I have a 6+ here and personally I can't see me getting a new one until this one dies a death and I take super excellent care of mine, just as I did with my iPhone 4S, only this time I think the pricing has actually hit a ridiculous plateau with them within the UK, considering I don't at best use more than about 6 apps regularly on my telephone, camera and telephone being two of them.

 

They are making it ridiculous to the point where you do consider whether to get off the platform or not now I think.

32GB as the entry level didn't quite sit right with me. I wanted the 7+ and with the camera specs now I had to go with the 128GB. Luckily I'm currently on a Sim Free contract with EE.

 

However I waited in the queue for my turn to pre-order with them. NOT A CHANCE! £129.99 upfront then £60.99 a month was their cheapest plan.

 

Ended up ordering direct from Apple. Obviously has to buy outright but works out cheaper in the long run. I only pay £20 a month currently to EE for unlimited calls and texts and 10GB data.

 

The prices really gaw me but suppose that's phone companies as well as Apple at fault here.

Perhaps that's why Apple also introduced the iPhone Upgrade Programme in the UK? I reckon a lot of people will take this route if they can't afford to pay for an iPhone all in one go, especially since they will get a 'free' upgrade to the next iPhone model in 11 months time.

I did see that the other day on there funny enough, its basically a subscription service for a smartphone I thought. The only problem is, its only cheapish for a bog standard basic model, any deviation and the pricing becomes horrible, i.e if it was £30 a month for a 128 plus model it would be super and in line with what most pay, but all this is doing is ramping up mobile prices horribly now for us.

There's a new Brick-Your-iPhone hoax doing the rounds. One about drilling a 4mm hole into the bottom-left of the handset to reveal the headphone jack.

Spec-wise, the iPhone is lackluster. It doesn't have any "shout about" features. The main "shout about" is the removal of a feature!

If there was a 4" version i would have been tempted, i don't want a 4.7", i had the iPhone 6 and it was just too big. I will stick with my iPhone SE. Plus the SE is cheap as chips at £400 a phone, i went and bought 3 of them on launch day from the Apple store SIM free so my parents could get a newer phone too.

EE now do similar. If you take out their maxi plan at £65.99 a month you get the latest iPhone each year. Straightforward swap out

To be fair, outright the iPhone 7 is £599, no contract. Apple's iOS is proprietary and developed for their phones using their services on their servers maintained by their staff.

 

Other phone providers apart from Google may just have to modify the base Android system to work with their hardware.

 

I would only expect it to be comparable to Google in price for that reason, which does make Google cheaper, but then again advertising revenues for Google may be used to subsidise the cost of their services and OS.

None of the phones you mentioned are particularly new (unlike the ones listed below). The S7 for example is already six months old.

Via a Lightning to 3.5mm Headphone Jack Adapter. There's one included in the box with the new iPhone. Replacement adapters cost £9.00 each from Apple.

Me neither, but some people like Windows Phones for some reason.

 

the Note 7 has been recalled.

Current Note 7 owners won't be without a phone for long and non-faulty models should be available to buy very shortly too.

Something to be aware of before signing up...

 

Apple is getting sued by customers that signed up for the iPhone Upgrade Program

 

If you signed up for the iPhone Upgrade Program last year, you were probably looking forward to trading in your iPhone 6s or 6s Plus for the new iPhone 7 or 7 Plus on launch day. But then pre-order time came on September 9, and you were left with a message to check back later.

 

Recode is reporting that some customers are frustrated enough to sue Apple over it. The lawsuit says, "While scores of customers signed up for the program and were ready to take advantage of the every-year upgrade with the release of the new iPhone 7 and 7 Plus, Apple had a different plan in mind. It allowed non-iPhone Upgrade Program customers to snap up the limited inventory of the new devices while telling countless iPhone Upgrade Program customers to ‘check back later. [sic]"

 

Indeed, the promise of the Program was that customers could get a new, unlocked iPhone with AppleCare+, pay a monthly fee, and trade in the phone for the new one when it comes out. That is certainly not how things played out.

If you want a decent Android phone you should have bought a Nexus (or Pixel as they will shortly be known).
