KMS - HELPP!! Windows 7 & 10, on Server 2012 R2

Morning everyone,

 

I've got a major issue with KMS here. Until last week, we had all Windows 7 clients (with Office2010) activated via KMS on a server 2008R2 DC. Well this summer we have rebuilt both our DC's and upgraded them to server 2012 R2. I am trying to set KMS up and it's not working My aim is to have a KMS server which will activate Windows 7 and 10 (as we plan to roll that out over the year) as well as Office 2010 and 2016 - which we also plan to roll out. Is there a KMS key which will activate Windows 7 and 10, and another to activate office 2010 and 2016? I know this is a big ask however we can't be the first school to do this...

Yes, the KMS service set that up automatically. I have attached a screenshot to check it's okay. I think my problem is what product keys i'm using. I need one for multiple OS's and multiple Office versions, is this actually possible? It must be!!

Install KMS (used AD version if you want) enter your Office 2016 KMS key and then your Windows 10 KMS key and your done.

 

They should activate older versions as well

So use Active Directory based active directory rather than KMS? Ive attached another image to clarify.

Have you installed VAMT 3.1? Makes activation a whole lot clearer if nothing else!

No I haven't...never had it on the old KMS server either, how does it work? A brief google mention the ADK which I've only used as part of WDS/MDT??

i just set up a windows 10 vm use the schools kms code for windows and that deals with all win7/8/8.1/10 activations. Install the office 20xx bits as well and the saem vm can do those (i assume 2010 office kms works in win10 but havent tried it

KMS key for 10 should activate older versions BUT it has to be the correct type to install on your server the exact name escapes me but it has windows 10 and server 2012 in the name. You need to install this Key and W10 will activate (if its a new server you will still need the usual min number of license requests to activate the server and then the clients)

 

I have a 2008r2 server activating W7 & W10 clients here (with the required patches) also doing office as well but only using 2010, i havent used VMAT for license management on the clients, once it was setup and activated it has just worked.

slightly tricking thing is to make sure you are changing settings for WIndows or office (like updating keys) as if you dont specify the correct activation ID the default is to the Windows licensing.

Hm... I am a tad lost here. The KMS host i have set up, i activated using the server 2012 R2 KMS key found on my VLSC portal. When i used a windows 10 KMS key, it won't activate, obviously. I have scoured the web but so far cannot find the "Windows 10 & Server 2012 Key" that was mentioned earlier that activates windows 10 and below.

I found mine by going to the MVLS, clicking "Licenses" in the top menu bar, clicking on the license agreement number then clicking on Product Keys. That will bring up a table of all of your keys. The key is called "Windows Srv 2012R2 DataCtr/Std KMS for Windows 10".

 

 

You may need to contact Microsoft to get it added. I think the email address is [email protected]

You may need to contact Microsoft Volume Licensing support (0800 9179016) to have them generate they keys, Microsoft told us they don't automatically generate them, they did it over the phone and they then appeared with all the other license keys.
