Ric_ Posted January 24, 2006 Posted January 24, 2006 I've decided to go for a web-based helpdesk and all the staff are going to be forced into using it by SLT which will be a bonus! My helpdesk of choice is One||Zero - it seems to do all I need. Anyway, does anybody else use One||Zero, or a derivative of it, and habe any tips for use - e.g. authentication method, configuring categories, etc. Anything to stop the users whinging.
StewartKnight Posted January 24, 2006 Posted January 24, 2006 I use one or zero. It's a doddle! for quick setup, give each "department" a logon, and individuals logons for more "demanding" users!
Ric_ Posted January 24, 2006 Author Posted January 24, 2006 hadn't thought of departmental logins - excellent idea! the ideas I was considering were LDAP authentication or only allowing access for staff with a htaccess file or something - then I could allow the user to enter their name manually (use One||Zero in Public mode).
StewartKnight Posted January 25, 2006 Posted January 25, 2006 I have the GP set so that only teachers have access to oneorzero, bookmarked as a favourite. Then they have a department logon. Save a lot of hassle that way.
alexknight Posted January 25, 2006 Posted January 25, 2006 Where can you get details of one Zero from?

webman Posted January 25, 2006 Posted January 25, 2006 Wouldn't it be better for staff to have individual logons to enable identification of training issues?
Ric_ Posted January 25, 2006 Author Posted January 25, 2006 @StewartKnight: How do you populate the account details for departmental accounts. Have you hacked the code so that you don't need email, etc.?
apeo Posted January 25, 2006 Posted January 25, 2006 @Indie: Oddly enought the site is called http://www.oneorzero.com I had a quick look and am i right in thinking, you will need to add in your own code to be able to do the following: * more than one task form. * customised task form ie add/remove fields. * possibly change which fields are mandatory
webman Posted January 25, 2006 Posted January 25, 2006 apeo: But if you paid for it (or similar package) and/or it was closed-source, you wouldn't even have the ability to do that
apeo Posted January 25, 2006 Posted January 25, 2006 @webman: Yeah I know most paid version wont be able to do what i asked about, I was just wondering if what I said was true or not.
Ric_ Posted January 25, 2006 Author Posted January 25, 2006 @apeo: I'm not sure what you are after. One||Zero seems to strike the balance between gathering sufficient information and not scaring the users. The feedback options seem quite comprehensive too. Haws anyone got the LDAP authentication working yet - the SLT here would prefer that to departmental logins so that it's one less thing to remember.
MkII Posted January 26, 2006 Posted January 26, 2006 Looks very good - not seen that one before. Any chance of a detailed review anyone??
elephanttrunks Posted June 14, 2007 Posted June 14, 2007 Hi all We're just setting up 1or0. It looks good. I'd like to remove lots of the fields that are asked for when a user creates a new task. Has anyone done this, yet? Could you post the code you tweaked and tell us what you did, please. Thanks Elephant.
Scotmk Posted June 15, 2007 Posted June 15, 2007 Wouldn't it be better for staff to have individual logons to enable identification of training issues? We use Liberum, it seams to be pretty straight forward and easy. It uses NT Authentication so they login automaticaly for ease of use. Not heard of one zero.
