Quick Access Desktop link points to Administrator

Morning guys,

 

I have an interesting problem, I build my machines via a deployment image using MDT. Recently I have noticed the machines I build are getting the desktop quick link to the administrator. I have no idea why this is happening.

 

You can see in the picture what I mean. Anyone have any ideas why this is happening? It didn't use to happen and does not happen on any of the other quick links?

How are you deploying your desktop links shortcuts?

 

If your folders are redirected is there a problem with the shortcut in the source folder?

I put the shortcuts in the public desktop folder in c:\users\Public\Desktop on the reference image, then create the deployment image for MDT

It's because it's in the frequent folders list.

 

Do other users see it when logged in? And even so, do they have access?

Everyone will see what is on your public desktop as your have set that within your image, every user will see that when you login.

 

What is it that your trying to do with shortuts? should they be a centralised for students or staff ?

 

I would create a folder on your server for students and redirect them for your student logins.

 

If its for staff I would use a copy function within group policy to copy them to the public directory of the desktop within a gp as if they get deleted it will copy it back over.
