[SIMS] SOLUS3 - Unable to add this computer - unknown IP address

Cannot find anyone who has had this specific problem but I cannot install Solus 3 currently and I am getting the following message

 

Unable to add this computer - unknown IP address when I type the machine name into the network install box

 

It ironically gets the correct address from DNS, which as been cleared and DNS flushed on the MIS server but no luck.

 

Very odd, any ideas>?

There are log files you can check, but for the life of me i cant remember where to find it.

 

Can you check if you can reach the c$ and admin$ shares? If so, check your dns server and scavenge ur stale records. Happened to us before i recreated the DNS server.

I ended up rebooting out DCs over the weekend which has solved it but I did try the above but to no avail.

 

Does anyone know how to ADD a module to sims once the client has been installed. Right now if I want to add FMS or Discover I have to uninstall and remove the computer from the list and reinstall. Is there a better way?

Sounds like maybe a duplicate DNS problem where your machine name has been changed a few times. This will stop solus 3 deploying out to the same machine with the same IP

 

I would next time double check your records and look for the same iP a few times but different names

No need to remove the entry, just add the target

 

Under targets > clients

Click add

Check discover or/and fms and choose clients

Click OK and authencate the install process.
