Conditional Access but MFA will be applied outside of school for all? or as @gybe78 points out will we be able to exempt students from the MFA rule altogether (not ideal but allows time to phase in) Still trying to find an categorical information that says they are about to implement this. Hi We are looking at dipping our toes in Chromebooks and deploying them to areas that just need to run software in the browser such as Office 365 and Mathswatch. My question, because I have never used / managed a Chromebooks before. Is it possible to set chromebooks to login / turn on with a single user account with a fresh login each time / reset? I would like to avoid having multiple logins so we would set it so users authenicate against AD creds for filtering but the Chrome session is unique to them for that session. Next user comes along, reboots Chromebook, fresh session for that user. I have done this with Win11 and Mac via reboot restore type software before.

Meraki have just announced Vape detection on their MT14 sensors https://community.meraki.com/t5/Feature-Announcements/Available-Now-High-Sampling-Mode-for-Vape-Detection/ba-p/191679 Thought it was battery powered but actually needs a usb c to ethernet adapter. Still works out even with a 10 year meraki licence, £500 a unit chaper than Verkada. I have a Verkada unit on trial so going to compare the two in a trial.

Did you ever find what setting does this? Looking to roll out and this is one of the last bugs.

We are blocking the o365 login outside of these exams. Which works for us pretty well. We then block chrome and edge and IE with impero. edit - we have SSO

This is fairly specific. We have just had XGS4300 installed replacing a 6 year old Sonicwall. On the whole we are very happy but one issue we keep getting , sporadically, is Hosted SIMS seemingly disconnecting and reconnecting the rdp session. Anyone else had this specific issue? From what I can see I have copied over all the existing rules and for the most part it works without fault.

Hi All Bit of a strange one. We have had an incident where unpleasant message has been posted on Teams as a @Mention. This has been removed however the notification of the comment and some of the content remains in the affected partys Activity feed. We can mark it as read so she doesnt have to look at it but we cannot delete it. Any ideas? I have turned off @Mentions for that team and also tried deleting a team with a mention in it. The notification stays there.

How did you get on with setting this up? I am just looking now and trying to get my head around the initial instructions. Did you create a lab plan first in Azure Portal?

I cant seem to find this answer and it might seem very simple but... if a user is deleted from AD and then 365, will the synology still keep the last backup even though they are no long present in our 365?

Digging up this old thread. I am trying to embed a spreadsheet on a website for public view but when i do it asks for users to sign in. However if I just share a link and "allow anyone with link" to view it it will display no problem with no request to sign in. Any ideas / progress?

Good Old NRS, they werent too sure whether I needed smartadmin installed on the workstation, eventually said no I dont. Bought new printer and CE software on top. They now say I do and quoted me £880 for the pleasure. @howartp have you tried copying the smartadmin folder across to a new workstation and editing the config to match the server version? seems to work ok.

Thanks for this it is very helpful. Did they set this up for you ? I just want to ensure i buy the right printer so that I can emulate this solution. Having the printer activate the cards will save a load of time.

Which would you recommend? Magicard or the Evolis Primacy?

So just to clarify. This printer also loads the mifare card > sends to Card exchange > which sends on to paxton / smartadmin etc? Our Magicard Enduro 3 e does not have this fucntion.

Not sure where I have read this or if I have just imagined it but....Is there a solution where the ID card printer , in conjunction with a particular piece of software, upon printing also activates the card to Paxton / SmartAdmin/TrustE (NRS Civica) At present we print using Paxton and activate using TrustE which then talks to Paxton and Printing. (NRS Civica) a convoluted process. Called Civica but got the impression I was speaking another language.

Any luck with this? I have just discovered that they have retired maintenance plans but cannot register for a new one. Are you having to create accounts for all users to sign in? Amazing lack of clear concise instructions on this issue that must affect loads.

You dont make a backup of their onedrive ? (if this is their main storage)

Annnnnnnd were back. Yes it does seem that is the point which we fall over. I have relayed the suggestion he tries to compile using Python and see if that gets him any further and will also suggest this workaround. Just for reference its obviously a topic which creates much discussion. I guess it is down to each and every institution on what they see as being appropriate given the ability of their users weighed up against what you want to them to achieve and the inherent security risks.

Hi Im not familiar with this one so just asking for some advice. Head of computing has asked for Vscode to be installed which itself i dont have a problem with. Now hes trying to run coding on some raspberry picodes which wants to launch in a powershell window which is blocked. To enable the powershell window I have to allow powershell. Anyone had any experience with deploying this software.

You have to take out 1 year subscriptions now. Be aware that you must renew these within 60 days of the expiry or you will have to apply for a new subscription. This stung me massively last year, If you deploy all you software in one image like we do. We had to apply and wait for new subscriptions for all of our Autodesk suite to come through before downloading and installing the new software with new serial numbers. As you know Autodesk software isnt small

With Covid and self isolations we have tried various laptop setups, basic standalone with just o365, standalone with all our software but not domain joined and normal domain joined laptop with direct access enabled (basically just like a staff laptop) The latter being the most successful in terms of giving access to software and home / student shares etc over a 2 week period. I have been reluctant to offer this for fear a bit of the unknown, if a student wanted to test a few things externally they wouldnt subject to the same restrictions (internet filtering etc) as they would on site. However it has worked out the most painless way of providing a laptop (no rebuilding and faffing with additional software) Does anyone else, in schools or universities provide this solution students short or long term? if so how many do you roll out. We are in process of migrating fully over to onedrive for student shares. Use of teams has also changed they landscape. also aware that Direct Access is eol and being replaced by AOVPN
