I left Vodafone for that very reason, now with EE and I can honestly say that I have had no problems with signal strength to date, fantastic phone but then having had all 3 of their models to date I don't think I would change to any other as they have all been great and still in use, :)

Funny you say that, just renewed my VF contract to get 8GB data then my mate finds a 16GB EE offer a few days later, typical!

 

EE were awful for me which was why I went to Vodafone in the first place. This was around the time they were upgrading all the masts and merging networks so may be better now that's all done?

 

Back on my M8 the 4G is rock solid here where it dropped back to 3G on the OP3 so there is something on the latter device that's either more sensitive to signal strength or a bug in network handling (apparently some people have similar issues with Wi-Fi too)

Well that didn't last long, looks like it'll be going back on RMA within the next couple of days.

 

4G signal stability is appalling, keeps falling back to H mode the majority of the time and it seems I'm not the only one with issues judging by threads in the UK subforum :(

 

No one else on here had the same issues? It's a shame as I like the phone generally but a smartphone without stable mobile data isn't all that smart.

It looks like it's a software issue (which the latest update still doesn't fix). :(

 

Latest OnePlus 3 update reportedly breaks more things than it fixes

 

OnePlus has had its hands full with the OnePlus 3 recently. A seemingly never-ending stream of complaints and bug reports finally culminated in an eagerly-anticipated Oxygen OS 3.2.4 update earlier today. However, instead of the all-encompassing fix everybody was hoping for, the 26MB package might actually be a a Trojan horse in disguise.

 

Of course, we don't mean that in the literal sense, as in a malicious virus, but now that a few hours have passed since the roll-out, users are reporting new and quite serious problems with their beloved handsets. To be fair, the "hotfix patch" did fix the original auto-restart and call quality issues it was going after. However, many users have been reporting that after the install Android Pay has stopped working.

 

And if that's not reason enough for concern, the update seems to have brought about LTE problems for many as well. The affected devices reportedly can't hold on to LTE signal and rapidly drop down to 3G and even 2G. If this currently affects you too, there is a workaround you can try: open the dialer, enter *#*#4636#*#*, then go to "Phone information", then "Preferred network type" and select "LTE only".

 

In order to sort through the whole mess OnePlus has opened a thread on its forum, where you can find such temporary fixes, report additional bugs and of course check on the status of the next update, that will hopefully come ASAP. Also, many users have seized the opportunity to bring up other long-standing OnePlus issues in the discussion, like the malfunctioning autofocus on the front camera or the issue with Doze and notifications, as well as the fact that the OnePlus 3 is still vulnerable to the recently discovered "QuadRooter" vulnerabilities.

Seems like the hardware quality isn't being matched by that of the software.

 

Not hanging around for bug fixes that may never arriven so will have to live with my cracked screen M8 until the HTC Nexus gets released later in the year...

May reconsider it in future but will hold off to see how it goes along with the other long-running fixes OnePlus needed to sort. Are the Doze problems resolved now?

Running the tool mentioned on the BBC website, it seems the OnePlus 3 with the latest updates is vulnerable to the following:

A software update has been released today. On the release notes is specifically mentions fixes for carrier issues.

 

Post update according to QuadRooter By Check Point, it is still vulnerable to CVE-2016-2504 in case anyone was wondering.

What Android Nougat? OnePlus working on OxygenOS 3.5 based on Marshmallow

 

OnePlus has recently rolled out a new version of its OxygenOS, v3.2.4, but the company is already working on the next major iterations of the system, dubbed OxygenOS 3.5. Recently, a build of this new version was made public and users can go download and try it out right now – at their own risk.

 

While most users are anxiously waiting for Android 7.0 Nougat, which was officially released last week, OnePlus seems to have a different plan in mind. The company is working on revamping its operating system for the OnePlus 3 flagship. Up until now, OxygenOS was lauded as almost being stock Android with a few extra features on top. But with OxygenOS 3.5, OnePlus seems to be changing that, at least in a tiny part. The new version of the OS features extra skinning and new UI elements. Here are the new features:

 

  • Several UI improvements
  • New and improved OnePlus apps, including clock, weather and file manager
  • Improved camera software
  • More robust settings and customization features

OnePlus also mentions multiple times that there are important changes under the hood. What those are exactly remains a mystery right now, but the company says it believes these changes will make things better in the long run.

 

Users that have been trying out the build seem to have mixed feelings on the changes. On one hand, many enjoy the new UI elements, which appear to be a mix of Android Nougat’s and the company’s HydrogenOS aesthetics. On the other hand, this takes OxygenOS a step further from stock Android. Then there’s the fact that OnePlus seems to be devoting a lot of resources to this new version of the OS, which isn’t even based on Android 7.0, meaning users might have to wait even longer to get the latest Google operating system.

 

Nougat is available unofficially for the OnePlus One however. :)

So do I purchase the OnePlus 3 or not? Currently got a Sony Z3 and its falling to pieces.

 

Are they good? Ive ready reviews and still not sure.

Ahh me too I researched soooo many phones when I got my Z3, it came up top on everything I wanted, and now I have to contend with a screen which is coming away, I have to hold the screen down for the Audio to work.

I was tempted to go back to an iPhone, but now I'm tempted by the OnePlus 3

First time Android user with this phone. Only thing I really moan about is battery life and putting on battery saver mode resets when charging. Other than that, nice phone me thinks. :)

how long does the Battery last?

Of course, your mileage my vary, but for me...

If I don't put battery saver on, it can drain by the end of the working day.

If I do put battery saver on, it can last for a couple of days.

 

Charging will turn off battery server mode, but you can set your phone to always enter battery server mode when it reaches 15%.

Mine lasts all day too. Sometimes if I'm punishing it I'll have to top up for 5 minutes. Never found it bothers me though, and I thought it might coming from the oneplus one.

Experience with android and android apps might help. I turn off all push notifications I don't need for example. Look at the battery stats and see that nothing you don't want to be using juice isn't.

Thanks for the suggestion, but with out battery saver mode enabled, this is what I see with the battery stats... don't know what I can disable out of that, but I am an Android noob. ;)

Many people are saying it's due to finger print pad Lee activating phone. Try disabling it

Here's mine.. Bluetooth and wi-fi permanent on. No mobile signal at all here at work.

How bright do you have your screen? What's the screen timeout? Is there a solid data connection most of the time?
