Getting rid of a car

After test driving the little corsa at the weekend we now need to look at getting rid of the clio.

 

We have looked on webuyanycar and they are giving £215 for it. It as a MOT and service until July and the tax is due Feb 2017 so can claim that back.

 

What would people recommend?

We buy any car a complete rip off merchants, never once have they offered what I'd consider to be a fair price for a car, personally I'd stick it on ebay or one of the many local Facebook cars for sale groups, you shouldn't have a problem selling a small cheap runaround.

Facebook group... Gumtree... Local freeads paper - particularly the type of car you're getting shot of should appeal to people who still read Friday ad!

I agree. Avoid "We buy any car"

 

We did our research when we got rid of our old Volvo and knew what we wanted for it. "We buy any car" appeared to come up with the goods in their online quote, but when got there the offer was halved.

 

We declined and drove straight to a local second hand dealer that offered what we wanted We would have sold privately if that hadn't come good.

I think the throttle body needs cleaning,

It needs 3 new tires

The fan blower doesnt work / occasionally works

It leaks a little (ive sealed up the passenger door sealer. top of the windscreen and the drain plate under the windscreen)

It creaks and rattles

The sunroof as vasoline round the seals to stop water getting

It loses power at first start and oftens judders at idle.

 

The battery is sound thought and its done 81k.

 

The diagnosis are clear even with the loss of power.

If you're confident it would pass an MOT it might be worth spending £40 on it, as it might make it a bit easier to shift (and could probably ask slightly more!)

The tires would fail the mot, they are down to the markers.

Be aware with webuyanycar that the price they give you on the website is not what you will actually get once you take it to their guy as he will start taking off money for scratches, bumps, dings, tears, etc.

if you are lucky. When you get a quote, they make assumptions about the car, if you click on the part about assumptions you can tell them more, they offered me £150 for my Zafira but once I told them it was a Right hand drive import (they should have know since it's an Opel not a Vauxhall, it even said Opel on their £150 quote) and told them about a small dent on the door they dropped it down to £50.

Stick it on all the local selling pages mentioned above as it is for £450 and see what happens

I'd put it on ebay with a starting bid equivalent to WBAC's offer. Make sure you list the faults clearly and take plenty of pictures.

 

I got £220 for a knackered 13 year old Golf (145k miles) which didn't have any power upon acceleration and burnt a lot of oil by selling it on ebay.
