They show a black-bottomed and white-topped box with an Xbox One controller on top - a handy size gauge. Apparently the console is 40 per cent smaller, has a 2TB hard-drive and supports 4K video and high dynamic range. The Xbox One S also apparently has a streamlined controller and vertical stand. DalekSec Posted June 12, 2016 Posted June 12, 2016 Does look good, but over the last 6 months i've mainly moved over to PC gaming, i only use my Xbox for Fifa! Might get myself one if the prices go down (says the guy about to get a 1080....)

Dos_Box Posted June 13, 2016 Posted June 13, 2016 (edited) I really hope (if it's true) it goes on sale soon as I had intended to buy an Xbox One this summer. I can't see it being as cheap as some speculate, which would be a nice thing if it were, but would be willing to pay up to £300 for an uprated Xbone, expecially with VR capabilities. Apparently Microsoft are due to make a big announcement pretty soon so fingers crossed it's for this and hopefully it won't be looking at a release date in 'the holidays'. If there is a scorpio i can see this slim being fairly cheap

Well. let's wait and see there is on the dicket a talk about xbox vr involving oculous. I agree this slim isnt vr capable (but 4k netflix/blueray shouldnt be a major issue dosent need huge computing power for that compared to a game) but i dont think its the 1.5 i thing the 1.5 will be out later this/early next year and if i had to guess will be based around amds 1070 equivelent gpu and "may" even have the gpu as a removable swappable module

haldarulon Posted June 13, 2016 Posted June 13, 2016 No upgrade for me money going towards a 1080 Fifa 17 on PC, BF1 PC, Elite PC, Wildlands PC, VIVE PC, plus loads more no reason for me to buy another console...especially as now my mates are slowly coming across to PC gaming, as well as some great forums i am a member of (such as this 1) My PC boots quicker than my XBOXone (although XB1 hasnt been on for months!) PS4 is getting played but only to play games that were bought for me. PC is getting the recognition it deserves, especially with Microsoft finally coming on board and with cross play becoming a stronger possibility and the fact it looks as though consoles are going to adopt a phone style upgrade the future looks bright for the PC master race... oh and the fact killer graphics cards are now CHEAP!

Fifa is one of those that in the past that I only ever bought on console (because PC version is always a year behind!) but i am going to assume (fingers X) fifa 17 is going to be same version as the consoles... but the big question is...WHY IS PRO EVO SO PANTS! I used to be die hard pro evo player and since the PS3 its been shocking! even when i patch the PC version (that looks better than console version FIFA) it just never plays a good game of football! so sad

Microsoft XBOX Scorpio SoC Powered by "Polaris" and "Zen" The new XBOX "Scorpio" 4K Ultra HD game console will feature a custom-design SoC by AMD, which will combine not just a GPU based on the "Polaris" architecture, but also a CPU based on the "Zen" microarchitecture. This is significant because it sees a departure from using 8 smaller "Jaguar" CPU cores, and upshifts to stronger "Zen" ones. The chip could be built on the 14 nm process. The SoC powering the XBOX Scorpio could feature a CPU component with eight "Zen" CPU cores, with SMT enabling 16 logical CPUs, and a "Polaris" GPU with 6 TFLOP/s of compute power. The combined compute power is expected to be close to 10 TFLOP/s. The Radeon RX 480, for instance features 5.84 TFLOP/s of power at its given clock speed. The CPU and GPU will likely share a common memory interface, belting out a memory bandwidth of 320 GB/s. The silicon muscle of this console should power 4K Ultra HD, 1080p @ 60 Hz HDR, and "good VR" solutions such as the Oculus Rift and HTC Vive. Games for the console could leverage DirectX 12. Microsoft teases Project Scorpio: Xbox with 6 TFLOPS, 4K60, and VR gaming support, coming 2017 At E3 today, Microsoft announced the next member of the Xbox family: codename Project Scorpio. The company calls it an uncompromised gaming machine. Project Scorpio will reportedly come with a 6 TFLOPS GPU, 8-core CPU, and 320GB/s of memory bandwidth. It will be capable of 4K gaming at 60 frames per second and support VR. What headset that VR support will use remains a mystery. Microsoft emphasized that Scorpio will be a part of the Xbox family: all games and peripherals that work on Xbox One and Xbox One S will be fully compatible with Project Scorpio. Microsoft's Phil Spencer said that this move marks the start of gaming beyond generations—entering a world where hardware improvements don't mean ditching your game library, echoing his previous promises about hardware upgrades. Fallout 4 featured heavily in the launch announcement, suggesting that the game will see a VR-enabled Scorpio-related update in the future. Microsoft said the new system will ship in the holiday season 2017.

Yeah, I did promise my kids an Xbox One this year and I'm more than happy to buy the S but then you have the niggling doubt that Scorpio will be on a whole new level with a whole new price tag! I think I shall look at the S this sumer as you will always be playing catch up and, to be frank, I'm sick of the racket the 360 makes!
