kennysarmy Posted February 7, 2008 Report Posted February 7, 2008 Been asked by Head of Art to create a public folder on which the permissions need to be: Head of Art : Full control - able to delete contents. Create sub-folders. Students : Ability to add new work but not delete others (ideally not even be able to delete their own work once in this folder) Is this possible ? Thanks.
SYNACK Posted February 7, 2008 Report Posted February 7, 2008 (edited) Yes it is possible, you are looking for the advanced button area on the security tab of the folder in question on your server [img1]. From there you can simply click the Add button [img3] to add special permissions that should allow you to implement the required restrictions [img2]. Head of art: Allow Full Control Students: Allow List folder Read Attributes Create files Read permitions Deny - (probably not necessary depending on existing rights assignment but it prevents it just in case) delete delete subfolders create folders Edited February 7, 2008 by SYNACK Demo perms 2

We use Moodle for that very function. Kids hand assignments in teacher marks it, kids get the results:) saves a lot of hassle
cookie_monster Posted February 7, 2008 Report Posted February 7, 2008 In addition to what SYNACK said I think you'll find that you need to either remove the creator owner group or give that group read only otherwise students will have full control over files that they create. 1
greenfieldsupport Posted February 7, 2008 Report Posted February 7, 2008 I Wouldn't give the students DENY rights to delete, just dont give them allow rights, that way you can give delete rights to the group "creator owner" and then they should be able to delete their own work but not anyone else's
