Gift for student

Hi all,

 

I am curious to learn what you would consider an acceptable gift from staff to student for approx £20. The head of the student tech team is leaving in a couple of weeks and we would like to get him something for all of his hard work. We are struggling for ideas. The best one so far is a voucher for Game.

 

Anybody any good ideas?

I second that - assuming some sort of IT Support role is what they are ultimately looking for else something to do with programming like a Pi etc.

Agree with Rad, though it may seem petty I have seen a member of staff suspended for a "silly" gift to a student. He never came back.

+1, but get it in writing too. I wouldn't rely on any kind of verbal agreement.

not at my current workplace, but a student was constantly late to lesson, the teacher jokingly said don't you have a watch? she said no can't afford one, he bought her a £5 Argos watch, once the accusations been made and peoples minds get into action your reputation is ruined, at that workplace at least.

I suspect this is the only reason why it became an issue. Sad that you have to consider every action from the perspective of a Daily Mail headline these days
