apeo Posted January 24, 2006 Posted January 24, 2006 I just started this year, just a lowly lvl 12 W/Mo at the mo.
DRogers Posted January 24, 2006 Author Posted January 24, 2006 I started late last year, I have a level 17 W/E Around The Wilds, and just started again and have got a level 5 Me/M at Fort Ranik
apeo Posted January 24, 2006 Posted January 24, 2006 Cool, here's a question you might be able to answer.. purple and gold items, i get a few purple ones every now and then but i cant see what so special about them. Any idea?
browolf Posted January 24, 2006 Posted January 24, 2006 i tried guildwars but i didnt find it very stimulating compared to the other games I play.

Any idea? They give extra bonuses Purple ones give a few, gold ones give even more.
apeo Posted January 24, 2006 Posted January 24, 2006 @DRogers: But the things is, I find that the bonuses from alot of purple items arent that great and see little difference to blue items. @Browolf: So what other games are you talking about?
Jake Posted January 24, 2006 Posted January 24, 2006 I played guildwars for about 5 weeks when it was released, I was (and still am) heavily into World of Warcraft, but was curious to check it out. Quite enjoyed my time in guildwars, but ultimately found that it didnt have enough depth or content for me.
apeo Posted January 24, 2006 Posted January 24, 2006 @Jake: I think most people who like mmorpg probably feel the same as Guildwars isnt really a mmorpg. Im still new to it so I still spend a reasonable amount of time on it but who knows in a few months time. I think it will depend on how much i get into pvp as this is a strong element in Guildwars. As for WOW, I would love to play it but Im not willing to pay £30 per month to do it. Im not so rich that Im willing to make that kind of commitment
tarquel Posted August 23, 2006 Posted August 23, 2006 Just picked up the Guild Wars Special Edition in Game today for £9.99 About to install it but just wondering whether there is different servers [like FF] and if so, I'd like to join one that someone else from here is on. Please reply quickly hehe Not important if you can transfer from one server to another really tho Cheers Nath.
StewartKnight Posted August 24, 2006 Posted August 24, 2006 PC Format is giving away 2 weeks free Guild Wars on the cover
apeo Posted August 30, 2006 Posted August 30, 2006 @tarquel: somewhat late i know but havent had chance to logon to edugeek in a while... any who you might find that in terms of servers is location and it only makes a dif later on when you do farming and you have to enter certain areas of the game. These areas can only be entered if your region has 'favor' which basically means a team from your region has won in a player v player match that gives the region 'favor'. other than that no you dont have to choose servers.

DaveT Posted September 14, 2006 Posted September 14, 2006 I played the first release of Guild wars they have since released an addon which we have to pay for, i cba with that tbh, i played it cos it was free. Anyone know if its still possible to play the original release since the addon was released? i had a lvl20 Mesmer/Elemental a lvl17 Warrior/Monk and a lvl11 Necro/mesmer (this char was awesome in the PVP arenas) i could 1 salvo an opponent in the cycle of three moves from longe range )
tarquel Posted October 19, 2006 Posted October 19, 2006 @apeo: Yeah - noticed the favour thing last night when i loaded GW up again, after not playing it for a while. And like griffin says - WoW [or Final Fantasy Online - shameless plug here lol] is only ~9 a month. Not bad if u have time to play games - which u should do, need to relax right guys? lol @DaveT: If you mean Factions, then no you dont need to buy it in order to play the original still. The same as when they release Nihtfall in about 7 days, you wont need this to play the original. You of course cant play Factions or Nightfall without buying them, but they are free to play afterwards and although they install together i.e. 'one client to bind them all' lol - they are seperate games as such i beleive Oooh printer jam later Nath.
Friez Posted January 16, 2007 Posted January 16, 2007 I know i'm reviving a kinda old thread... but I play GW... quite avidly... Level 20 E/any... [Kind Of A Big Deal - 5 maxed titles] Level 20 W/Mo [nearly Legendary Survivor -- 1337500xp 0 deaths] Level 20 Mo/Me Level 20 R/Mo Level 20 P/Mo [survivor] Level 20 N/Mo [survivor] Level 19 A/Mo Level 8 Me/Mo Level 6 D/Mo Level 5 Rt/Mo If you get GW Factions / Nightfall / Prophecies you can link them, and have your characters go across all campaigns. The campaigns are one-off fee's to purchase, much more value for money than games like World Of Walking... I agree with the comments above that GW is much more a strategy game on crack than an RPG game. As for item rarities: Blue = magical, low-end magic, on some items you can use crafting kits to get things out of them such as runes of vigor [+30hp] Purple = semi rare, medium-class items, on some items you can use crafting kits to get things out of them such as runes of major vigor [+41hp] Gold = rare, high rarity items usually yield better (or best) stats, on some items you can use crafting kits to get things out of them such as runes of superior vigor [+50hp] (also worth a BOMB) Green = UNIQUE weapons, usually have maxed stats. I've got a plethora of them :S Anyone playing this game and needs help my in-game character is Yu Takami.
tarquel Posted February 21, 2007 Posted February 21, 2007 If u use xfire at all, add me I dont play Guild Wars but i might do a bit more often again at some point Could use the in-game online company :D Nath.
Friez Posted February 28, 2007 Posted February 28, 2007 I don't use xfire =/ Though feel free to in-game friend me sometime using the above Alias to fire me a PM if I'm about (which is quite often!)
tarquel Posted March 2, 2007 Posted March 2, 2007 Will do... when I get the chance [even if its just to say Hi and see you about hehe] I've only got the first "episode" tho. Nath.
Friez Posted May 24, 2007 Posted May 24, 2007 Update: Maxed 12 titles now! Also anyone checked out hard mode? Currently vanquishing everything in sight!
GeekySi Posted May 31, 2007 Posted May 31, 2007 Nice to see other Guild Wars players - I have been playing for nearly two years now I have to admit, I enjoyed the PvE side initially but the true fun in GW is the PvP battles and Guild vs Guild battles in particular. Its one of the best online competitive games that I have played as teamwork is the main component that will win you games.
apeo Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 Does anyone still play Guildwars? I've just started playing it again.
featured_spectre Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 I have it on my PC at home, but I rarely play it as I dont like using the PC. I am more an xbox man now, however when I do go back its nice to play for a while...My character is on his 4th birthday soon! He is a lvl 20 Elementalist / any other here as I bought rights to allow him to alter secondary
apeo Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 I only just started because my xbox is broke (as i've mentioned many times already.. LOL) and i've noticed that you can find out what rewards you can get for GW2 when put stuff in Hall of Monuments. I've got loads that i could do but dont have any friends online now.
