Internal Emails ?

One of my primary school would like their year 3's to practice sending emails to each other.

 

I dont really want to go down the route of Exchange - cheap and chearfull would be better.

 

Does anyone know of some software that will enable either internal pop or web mail ?

Do you have a Windows 2003 server? That has a basic POP3 server built into which would probably be suitable for what you want to use it for

Does the site have Espresso hosted on a Cachepilot / Netpilot by any chance?

Probably a stupid question but doesn't your provider give you emails? Or how about webmail like hotmail?

yes if on rbc then isp can set it so that primary school emails are with in the site only...

Install your favourite linux distro that has exim, set it to do local delivery only, make a few users and send email that way?

Dont really like the idea of giving 7 year olds external emails for obvious reasons.

 

Am running 2k3 server - didnt know about the pop3 built in.

 

Have just installed "office Mail" from http://www.burrotech.com/officemail.php

 

Its free if you just want outlook/express clients need to reg to get the web based email working. only £40.

You can get the SME Server distribution of linux from http://www.contribs.org, which includes an email server with a new web GUI

There's a free email system built into http://www.think.com - just sign your school up for an account. It's particularly well suited to primary schools.

 

You can set it up so that the kids can just email each other - and it's set up securely with filtering of banned words and a flagging system.

 

It's owned by Oracle now.

 

Virtually no work to set up and free.
