Fujitsu Esprimo HDD Password

Hi Guys,

 

So a student has put a HDD password on one of our machines and we can't remove it! We can access the BIOS ok.

 

Any help appreciated!

I might be wrong but I was under the impression you can't "crack" a HDD password?

 

It's no help now, but I'd advise getting BIOS passwords set across all machines to prevent it happening again

So the only option really is to replace the drive? Don't worry i'm already on the BIOS passwords (a lesson learned the hard way)

Both Seagate and WD drives can be unlocked over the serial port.

Used to have a bookmark for a tool that could disable HDD passwords...slim chance but I'll try and find when I'm home.

If you are able to access the BIOS you may be able to set the Bios administrator password and then use this password to overwrite the HDD password as this use to be possible (not sure if it is anymore).

Any joy? I try HDD unlock but it wouldn't even detect the drive.

Cracking HDD passwords are a pain. Requires alot of time and effort, and unless your used to forcing your way into a device. I recommend just a replacement.

Had a tosh laptop that i need to short a pin or something to remove the password. as I remember it did work. Requires a screwdriver while powering up the HDD though

it still keeps on the HDD regardless as its based on the erprom firmware chips. Gets even worse if its on a SSD. IF its really old, it keeps on CMOS. "if" your hard drive is pretty old, attempt a CMOS reset.

You can try brute forcing your way in using tools in Herins boot cd, or F4UBCD. Hell even some linux bootable distros you can use some tools to crack in.

One i have used in the past is MHDD v4.5, it basically resets the eprom data. But be warned as this can also brick the hard drive.

 

To Original poster, what HDD are we talking about? Do you know how old it is?
