kennysarmy Posted March 22, 2016 Posted March 22, 2016 Logging into iPads, anyone know anymore about how this will be achieved? Please be able to mirror Active Directory PLEASE! Education - Mac, iPad, Apple TV - Apple This worries me : << Students know which devices to use because their pictures are on the Lock screens. >> Sounds like it's not truly flexible in that students ideally have to keep using the same devices, presumably due to the small internal memory being unable to cope with multiple "logons".
tmoon-mint Posted March 22, 2016 Posted March 22, 2016 Shared iPad is supported on iPad Pro, iPad Air 2, and iPad mini 4 with 32GB of storage or higher. ABSOLUTELY FUMING! 1
Chrisbf1 Posted March 22, 2016 Posted March 22, 2016 ABSOLUTELY FUMING! Yes I have just seen that. I don't know why they bothered, how many schools can afford iPad Air 2 etc. Another kick in th teeth from Apple. A bit like airdrop!
tmoon-mint Posted March 22, 2016 Posted March 22, 2016 I love iPads but its getting harder and harder to defend them these days. I was really excited for these features. Im guessing the classroom app will be all but useless without multi user support.
Norphy Posted March 22, 2016 Posted March 22, 2016 Logging into iPads, anyone know anymore about how this will be achieved? Please be able to mirror Active Directory PLEASE! Education - Mac, iPad, Apple TV - Apple They're probably "joined" to a Profile Manager server. As long as the Profile Manager server is joined to AD, they could probably be made to use AD credentials too. Yes I have just seen that. I don't know why they bothered, how many schools can afford iPad Air 2 etc. Another kick in th teeth from Apple. A bit like airdrop! Those are all A8 or above based iPads. This is pure speculation on my part but I'm willing to bet that anything less probably doesn't have enough RAM. I think that the iPad Air 2 was the first to get 2GB. I'm less than impressed that 32GB is the minimum for storage though.
Brimstone Posted March 22, 2016 Posted March 22, 2016 Logging into iPads, anyone know anymore about how this will be achieved? Please be able to mirror Active Directory PLEASE! Education - Mac, iPad, Apple TV - Apple Meh...Apple will NEVER support AD logins on iPads get over it or use an MDM solution that can link to your Active Directory like Casper Suite
free780 Posted March 23, 2016 Posted March 23, 2016 Or use a windows tablet which is a multi-user device.
Roberto Posted March 23, 2016 Posted March 23, 2016 Meh...Apple will NEVER support AD logins on iPads get over it or use an MDM solution that can link to your Active Directory like Casper Suite There were plenty of claims around a few years ago that apple would never support integration with Exchange on either iOS or Mac OSX. Never say never.
jcookhgs Posted March 24, 2016 Posted March 24, 2016 ABSOLUTELY FUMING! Doesn't help us when the the student ipads we use are mini 2's with 16GB. 1
