in the home version of windows 10 with 2 users logged in with live accounts it is possible for both users to use each others apps. Is there a way of limiting apps only to be used for a single person. Basically I have a student who, on his home computer doesn't wan't his brother to use his apps.

I think the 1.5 TB is wrong, it looks like its 300BG per sharepoint instance

Hi All, I have discovered SharePoint (free) through the office 365 portal. I am just tinkering and having a look around at the moment. I don't know if it is possible but my idea is to use SharePoint online to mirror our file server to allow the functionality of SharePoint to be used. Such as collaborative editing of documents. I don't want to host our documents as the fee amount 1.5TB would not be enough. Anyone used this feature?

redstor is quite expensive looks brilliant though. Would be 1000's cheaper to keep it in house on a NAS drive at the other end of the building (with fire break before people get carried away)

Out Of Office issue Exchange 2007 (outlook2013)
beancole replied to beancole's topic in Windows Server 2008 R2
my audodiscover isn't working. But I'm pretty sure it never has. The funny thing is its happening on machines that were re-imaged over the holidays. I can access it from my windows 10 machine. Another staffmember could access it from an un-updated windows 7 machine until I logged in with an effected user now they can't either. Further to this if they log ino OWA they can change it from there so it appears to be something in outlook causing the issue within the user profile but somehow once that user logs into another machine it causes te same issue there. -
your automatic reply settings cannot be displayed because the server is currently unavailable This all of a sudden has started popping up for people wanting to change their Automatic Replies. Its annoying as one user is stuck with an out of office reply. It is happening on all machines. From what I can gather it is a problem with exchange. Some updates to exchange 2007 were applied during the holidays. Anyone had this before? I can go into further detail if its not a glaringly obvious issue.

Had about enough of backup exec 2012 and its little stupid things it does. I also have an issue with a hard drive in a NAS we use. This has prompted me to think about changing to an online service. What are peoples opinions? What do you use? pitfalls? stuff to watch out for etc.?

So I am a meraki newbie for iPad MDM. I have added all the free apps we use which is not a problem they can go on all devices. My question is how do I add/procure paid for apps to go on all devices?

I love the scams on facebook the click bait sharing of "Dwarf amputee shags horse" really gives an insight into the people I know. It's an aid for whom to avoid in the real world.

Hi All, As a rule I have never installed Java, Flash, shockwave etc. This is something I was taught at college as a precaution for unwanted stuff on your server if no java then it can't run even if it gets on there. It's something I've never really questioned and I've never needed it. I have Dell servers and I would like to keep them up to date with drivers etc and the easiest way is with Dell system detect but this uses java, Does anyone have an opinion on this? Were my lecturers correct keep it off or is it an old fashioned view now?

I use fog for image deplyment and that has something called green fog you can set times to shutdown or reboot. Really hand I set all our machines to reboot every evening a few times if still on then to shutdown a 5pm.

Where do I dump the files? is it just in the Hap folder or does it go in a sub folder? Apologies for what might be a silly question I couldn't find the answer in the manual.
-
Aye, been looking at the preview. It looked as if apple were hinting at their own MDM.
-
It's been asked before and surely it will be asked again, Which MDM solution do you use? I'm looking at buying a load of iPads. 16 to start but maxing at about 60 probably (we don't need many were a special school max class size of 12) I'm told meraki is good as it's free but limited. I would prefer free vut which is the best in peoples opinions.

[fog] change how often clients talk to server
beancole replied to beancole's topic in O/S Deployment
Cheers, The check in time makes sense. I will look at it. I added another shutdown time on green fog and it started working. I assume this refreshed something on the fog server somehow. -
[fog] change how often clients talk to server
beancole replied to beancole's topic in O/S Deployment
I should add green fog also isn't working. I confirmed the client setup settings and the fog server was left blank for default. there is a DNS record pointing to the correct location and I can access the server from the DNS name (http://fogserver/fog) I think I have something setup wrong somehow? My fog log looks like this;- 09/03/2016 09:04 FOG::SnapinClient Attempting to connect to fog server... 09/03/2016 09:04 FOG::SnapinClient Module is active... 09/03/2016 09:04 FOG::SnapinClient No Tasks found for: F0:4D:A2:26:25:08 09/03/2016 09:09 FOG::SnapinClient Attempting to connect to fog server... 09/03/2016 09:09 FOG::SnapinClient Module is active... 09/03/2016 09:09 FOG::SnapinClient No Tasks found for: F0:4D:A2:26:25:08 09/03/2016 09:14 FOG::SnapinClient Attempting to connect to fog server... 09/03/2016 09:14 FOG::SnapinClient Module is active... 09/03/2016 09:14 FOG::SnapinClient No Tasks found for: F0:4D:A2:26:25:08 09/03/2016 09:19 FOG::SnapinClient Attempting to connect to fog server... 09/03/2016 09:19 FOG::SnapinClient Module is active... 09/03/2016 09:19 FOG::SnapinClient No Tasks found for: F0:4D:A2:26:25:08 -
Hi All, just had to rebuild fog (will back it up this time) I can;t rmember how to change the client settings not to ask for tasks every few minutes. I don't want unnecessary network traffic. I'm using version 3.2

Hi all, My names Ben and I am a macophobe. Just been given 10 iMacs and I have not the foggiest what to do with them. they have come from a college donated free. On arrival they are vanilla straght out of box. I have added a username and i'm on. I don't know where to start configuration wise. If anyone knows a decent video series or some material to read that would be great. My first goal is to connect them to the network so users can log in and have their documents, at a push some shares. Also I want to lock them down will joining the network do this at all? cheers, Ben

that's the badger, can it be fully up and running in 20 mins like fog is

I tried Fog 1.# before 1.20 It was development issues If I remember problems with kernels on some of our dell machines. I might give it a go. Just looking for some peoples opinions on SCCM too before I start to make a decision I don't even know if it costs for example?

Hi All, To fog or not to fog that is the question. Had fog installed (the old release) for ages and its brilliant. OS deployment with all programs in less than 20 minutes and the asset management capability is great. But its been a while and the server has died (maybe time to backup the backup.) I want to know if anyone has used the latest version. I looked at it a while ago and it was a non starter. Also I was thinking about SCCM, whats the crack. I assume it will PXE boot, how long does it take install an O/S and programs etc. Ben
