Serif DrawPlus 7 - arrghhhhh

OK.

So I get told over a year ago that the only Serif packages that need installing are: MoviePlus - PagePlus11 - PhotoPlus.

 

Then out the blue I get an email from the Head of IT saying...

I can't get DrawPlus to work on any of the computers....

 

Well not surprising I say - as it's not been on the images for over a year....

 

Ah.

 

So I look in the mapped drive on the server where all the Serif (cr*p) is and find in the drawplus folder a "Serif DrawPlus 7.0.msi".

 

"GREAT"... I think - I will deploy it using that...

 

Set up a test OU and my test machine and try to deploy.

 

Machine has been stuck at "Installing managed software Serif DrawPlus 7.0..." now for over 20 minutes....

 

Anyone know of what could be up and if there is a fix? or is it just a case of having to visit each pc that they need this on?

The msi deploys fine here. Maybe your msi file is corrupt?

Indeed - perhaps grabbing a clean copy of the MSI?

A straight double click of the file "Serif DrawPlus 7.0.msi" from my own workstation and it installs perfectly

Going back a while now but i remember Serif DrawPlus 7.0 being a royal pain and did exactly what you are seeing while other parts of the suite worked just fine. It's possible that there is now an updated msi file i'd check with Serif.

What bugs me with the Serif stuff is the 80 meg and more it shoves in the user's profile !!

When we got all the Serif stuff, over a year ago, like you I only installed one package (in my case PhotoPlus). The license only lasted until January 2008 - I have now uninstalled it from all machines, it came off a tad quicker than it went on.

 

What's the betting that I will get asked for it soon?
