5tu Posted February 3, 2016 Posted February 3, 2016 Hi all I've been asked to look into the most effective way of recording (and tracking) pupil accidents and injuries while in school. My first thought was this must be possible in SIMS but it would seem that the only possible place to record incidents is within Behaviour Management which isn't ideal as it's not a behaviour issue. So I wondered what the rest of you good people are doing, if anything? Many thanks
smithson83 Posted February 3, 2016 Posted February 3, 2016 I believe we have a ring binder with a pen and paper in it 1
5tu Posted February 3, 2016 Author Posted February 3, 2016 I believe we have a ring binder with a pen and paper in it Lol @smithson83 - exactly what I suggested but SLT want an online solution that ensures the people who need to be informed get informed.
localzuk Posted February 3, 2016 Posted February 3, 2016 We use this - https://www.eeclive.co.uk/ Keeps track of all the relevant info. It doesn't have any links to SIMS though, that's up to the person filling it in to deal with (all accident reports go through 1 or 2 people, so they follow the process of contacting the right people). 1
eean Posted February 3, 2016 Posted February 3, 2016 How about in the medical section under 'Medical Events' You can the list of event types, so we have 'Accident', 'Illness' etc... Then you can have subcategories, so for Accident we every accident imaginable, e.g: Papercut - Back to Class Papercut - Sent Home It makes a long list but works well. Plus you can record further detail if needed. It's pretty easy to report from that section too. 1
5tu Posted February 3, 2016 Author Posted February 3, 2016 Thanks everyone for their suggestions - very helpful. Typically after creating this thread I found this one - http://www.edugeek.net/forums/mis-systems/83999-sims-medical-room.html.
Michael Posted February 3, 2016 Posted February 3, 2016 Some schools use CPOMS The general feedback is pretty good and allows you to keep an audit trail per child. 1
unixman_again Posted April 1, 2016 Posted April 1, 2016 We use a system that I wrote, which is just a web form that updates to a MySQL database. The form can be accessed from the staff, student and site staff portals and, depending on where it is accessed from, has different fields. Staff can report a health & safety concern or a near miss, students a health & safety concern and site staff (who are the first aiders), what ever they want (accident, incident, h&s concern, near miss, first aid or student h&s). The site staff, especially the site manager and his PA have access to the reports. It isn't integrated to UNIT-e (our MIS system), but I think specific events relating to students are entered into that by the MIS manager.
timbo343 Posted April 2, 2016 Posted April 2, 2016 Ive created a simple access databased for ours and it does the job. We did have a phone call from a company thought promoting theirs, i forget the name but they were at BETT. I seem to think they were called medical tracker or something of that name. Obviously its not free but the one i created seems to do the job.
timbo343 Posted May 9, 2020 Posted May 9, 2020 An update to this .. 4 years on. Impero have a new product for free called Impero BackDrop https://www.imperosoftware.com/uk/impero-backdrop/
timbo343 Posted May 9, 2020 Posted May 9, 2020 Im not sure. I've emailed my account manager to asking to speak to me on Monday about it. We have just started using CPOMS and i'm wondering if the impero offering could be used as an accident log / firat aid recording system which our site manager would be able to run reports from and keep CPOMS for safeguarding only. If any safe guarding concerns occur they are put on CPOMS. It would be nice to see the impero offering sync from Bromcom though rather than using CSVs. If possible it would certainly mean i can retire one of the 5 spiceworks servers we have on site.

DrCheese Posted May 9, 2020 Posted May 9, 2020 Our medical room uses this https://www.medicaltracker.co.uk/
Edu-IT Posted May 9, 2020 Posted May 9, 2020 Does this doc help? https://www.imperosoftware.com/uk/wp-content/uploads/sites/2/2018/12/Impero_EdAware_UK.pdf Says that they have on page 3. Does that apply to this free product though? I mean, I can’t see why it wouldn’t, but a definitive answer would be reassuring.
craig2562 Posted May 17, 2020 Posted May 17, 2020 We use Evolve Accident Book from Edufocus here - seems to work well, although I haven't used it myself I'm just administrator.
timbo343 Posted May 18, 2020 Posted May 18, 2020 Does that apply to this free product though? I mean, I can’t see why it wouldn’t, but a definitive answer would be reassuring. The free version isn't cloud bssed, it sits on an OnPrem server and requires us to install it.
Edu-IT Posted May 18, 2020 Posted May 18, 2020 The free version isn't cloud bssed, it sits on an OnPrem server and requires us to install it. It is cloud based. I signed up for it to see what it is about? You access it here. https://uk.backdrop.cloud/login
