  1. I loved him in Best Shot (known as Hoosiers in US) playing a Basketball coach in a school team. A good feel-good film, even if you're not into sports, and also has a great performance by Dennis Hopper.
  2. Other: Sophos
  3. Hi Everyone, I have taken over the role of SharePoint admin at our school after the data manager left in Dec. I'm awaiting Training but in the meantime I have an issue with a document library shortcut within a site. I created the new document library without issue and then I want to create a shortcut to that document library on a site. However, when I do it it works fine, but I get a toolbar appear at the top of the library that I can't seem to get rid of. The other shortcuts that have been created (not by me) do not have this. What am I doing wrong?
  4. No, she's tried both in Office 365 and the Teams App. In O365 she goes to the Teams App, clicks the Team she is in and then clicks Assignments in the left hand channel and that's when she gets the issue. Also, in the Team App she clicks assignments, it starts to appear with menu at the top but then disappears and she just gets a white screen. I've made myself an owner of the Team and I get exactly the same.
  5. Hi there, Not done this before in Teams and need advice. I have a Teacher that is having to self isolate and working from home trying to set an quiz in the Assignments section of the team that she is owner of. She clicks 'Quiz' and then gets a pop-up asking Create Quiz Assignment and Choose a class where you'd like to create an assignment. But the class team she is doesn't show up in the list when she types - in fact no class does - she just gets no classes found. Anyone know why? Thanks in anticipation of your help.
  6. I love the way the guys working underneath the building have hard hats on
  7. Thanks for the response - I don't know which browser yet they haven't responded to my questions. I think they're screen sharing the PowerPoint as best as I can tell.
  8. Hi everyone, A quick query - I have a user that is using MS Teams for lessons. They can connect OK and everything is well until they share a PowerPoint. Once they've shared the presentation and go back to the video camera it says that the video can't connect, even though it had been working perfectly up until then. Any ideas?
  9. Have you looked at Tucasi? https://www.tucasi.com/about-us
  10. We use Evolve Accident Book from Edufocus here - seems to work well, although I haven't used it myself I'm just administrator.
  11. We have 30+ students in next week and more than enough staff to cope with that level (about 10% of our normal). All those staff not teaching students will be directed by HoD's on what needs doing - mostly updating Teaching on Teams, Youtube and using Homepacks. Most of the hard work for me has been done - it's been a crazy busy week and TBH I'm absolutely knackered (not as young as I used to be) and looking forward to some R&R this weekend. I have to say, the LT have been great at directing staff to only disturb us if it's absolutely necessary and the majority of staff within our school have rolled up their sleeves and got on with it, despite there being some anxiety. The spirit has been excellent. There are two of us in the IT Dept but I've sent my colleague home for now as he is an Asthma sufferer and is struggling at the moment - don't want to risk him catching anything. Next week I will be in and I've got things to be going on with so I will lock myself away in self-isolation in the Server Room. Stay safe everyone - this is gonna be a long haul.
  12. If it's like this with home workers imagine what it's going to be like when all the different schools start using it. I have advised my school to use various routes to learning and not be heavily reliant on MS Teams. We're in unprecedented times where the norm is no longer applicable.
  13. I worked in Engineering for 30+ years of my life, having various Senior Engineering roles from Chief Engineer up to Works/Manufacturing Manager in various industries ranging from Toy, Furniture and Food Packaging & Utensil manufacture. In my last role I worked in Plastic Milk Bottle Production manufacturing over 20M bottles per year. I travelled the world and had some great fun. I had always been interested in Computers, having had a few over the years and was the Go To person in the family when things needed fixing on these new fandangled Windows PCs that they had bought. A friend of mine, who had worked in IT Telecoms for most of his working life had decided to set up on his own doing IT Support for local users, businesses and schools after having worked in IT support for the local borough. He needed extra help at one for the schools he supported and I was working Continental Shifts so had spare time to help him. It was a steep learning curve, but with his help I managed to do OK. In 2011, I was made redundant by a buyout of the company that I worked for and took the redundancy money assuming that , with my engineering experience, I would have no trouble finding another job. Six months , and many interviews later, i was struggling to find something. My friend told me of a job in a local school that were looking for an ICT Technician on three days per week (TTO). I thought it would at least give me something to do while looking for work elsewhere. Within three months my days were increased to 4, within 6 to 5 days a week and then the following year I was give a full time job. I worked hard, taught myself networks and AD etc, installed a Ubiquity Wireless Network. I worked there for 5 years and when it looked like the budget cuts were starting to cut in I applied for a job at the Local Borough Education Support and was offered it. That was a really steep learning curve, but I had a boss and fellow IT staff who were great and patient with me while I caught up. Again, with LA cuts cutting deep it was decided that the department would be wound down and rather than wait I jumped ship and I am now working as a Senior ICT Technician in a Special Needs School and loving it. I'm still learning and still not afraid to ask questions - no matter how stupid they may seem.
  14. Yeah, from my recollection of Windows 7 you have to substitute the correct path for the one that is listed otherwise the collection launcher can't see them. It's a relatively simple process. I'e been asked to install 2simple on WIN 10 but have so far not done it and just wanted to ask the forum if there was anyone who had already done it and how it worked out.
  15. We use Parago https://www.paragosoftware.com/ for asset management and some facilities stuff and we have https://www.tabsfm.com/ for the helpdesk and maintenance schedules. Would like to eventually get it all on to the Parago platform but it's not my decision.
  16. Silly Question I know, but just wondering if anyone has set up the 2Simple Suite on Windows 10, or even if it's possible? Maybe using the Win 7 installs?
  17. I had exactly these fault codes today. When logged on as the user, I could access SIMS no problem but the user couldn't. But when logged on as me, both of us could access SIMS. On talking to the user it turns out that she had cleaned out the files in her SIMS Document Folder - a simple restore from the recycle bin sorted it.
  18. RIP Mark Hollis of Talk Talk - Aged just 64. Such a great part of my musical life. Colour of Spring and Spirit of Eden are two of the greatest albums of all time.
  19. Register, get account, order.
  20. That's two of my Go-To suppliers gone in the last year - Millennium Business Systems and now Hills Components. I guess you can only sustain a low price model if you can pile it high and sell it cheap, and fast. When budgets are hit as bad as they are now, that's not a feasible model anymore.
  21. What are the LEA saying? Surely they have some say in what is going on and what data is available.
  22. Any help with the following issues greatly appreciated. User 1 - Can see all her drives and content when she is on remote but when she is in school and logs in normally; all the folders in her drives are empty! So she has to then log on to remote to see anything! User 2 - Can access remote ok but any work she does on remote and saves into the shared drives, does not appear on those drives when she is back in school. To access those files, she then has to log back into remote again. User 3 - Can't see anything in a particular mapped drive on remote. User 4 - Gets problems when trying to save files either on remote or logged in normally at school. Files will not save on anything except on to an external drive such as a USB stick. User 5 - Can't see a folder in a particular mapped drive on remote. All appear to have the correct permissions to the folders drives etc.
  23. Did anyone ever resolve this?
  24. Thanks for the response. Yes Steve it's on the RDP Server. I will check the connect files.
  25. I've got a SBM in the school that can't connect to FMS when using the remote server. She gets the following message: General SQL Error. [Microsoft] SQL Network Interfaces: Error Locating Server/Instance Specified [xFFFFFFFF]. [Microsoft] [sql Native Client] An error has occurred while establishing a connection to the server. When connecting to SQL Server 2005, this failure may be caused by the fact that under the default settings SQL Server doe[Microsoft] [sql Native Client] s not allow remote connections. [Microsoft] [sql Native Client] Login tiemout expired Alias: dbCheckLogin I know little about SQL so any help would be much appreciated. Not sure why it's mentioning SQL 2005 when we are running SQL 2014?? Hoping someone can help as I would like to get this resolved. Thanks Craig
