Our nursery is fed up with CDs and boomboxes and would like to get a couple of bluetooth speakers so they can play music from the staff iPads.

Obviously there are hundreds on the market but most are pushed towards home use and battery powered.

They have a budget of up to £250 per speaker, and need something that can fill a decent sized classroom filled with noisy toddlers :) Mains powered with the option of batteries would be good.

Anyone have any recommendations? Sonos are out of the equation, as good as they are, since you need to use the Sonos app, and I'm looking for simplicity :)

Do they have amps in the classroom at the moment?

An AppleTV plus something like this connected to an amp or the speakers in the interactive whiteboard would be my first suggestion. Connect both to the wifi, the teacher uses Airplay to choose their speaker outputs and Robert is your father's brother.

I use a Bose MiniSound Link at home. Not sure if appropriate for a classroom but mains rechargeable, decent battery life and good sound quality. Price bounces up and down. I got mine (with mates rates) for £90 ish.

That's an option, thanks :)

Just ordered one of these for use in our Sports Hall.

Behringer Eurolive B115W Active PA Speaker | DV247

 Well that would certainly fill the space! An option, though maybe slightly overkill for playing songs to toddlers :D

Nope, no amps. Classroom was probably a bit misleading, it's a nursery so they're more like playrooms with none of the permanent setup our school classrooms have.

We bought a Sony SRSBTM8W from Amazon - black is £55, white is slightly dearer. Discontinued but still available. Battery or mains power and easily portable from room to room. Our Drama department love it, great for streaming from the school spotify account as well as the PE Dept. iPod!

Sony Portable Bluetooth Wireless Speaker - Black (discontinued by manufacturer): Amazon.co.uk: TV bought one for home to take on picnics :)

We have some Roth Sub zero III,s in school, not expensive and really easy to connect to, we got rid of our amp and speakers for these. The sound from the pc is good and the staff love the bluetooth facilty!
