Just to reply to a few of the above, we use IE and it works fine. Also SSO is working fine for us (Has to be through your school link remember), did you set the linked ID it's using for the LDAP lookup?

@timbo343 yes thats the setup we have.

Make sure you are on your subdomain link though when attempting to use it or it defintiely won't work (I don't think they tell you this very clearly)

Thanks for confirming the setup for the smoothwall.

Yarp, ive got that set too.. /login?subdomain=*$_Schoolname*

I've even given them a test login to try and im still waiting for them to get back to me. Im still waiting for "the engineering team to test this connection again".

There support is terrible just told to only contact via email as too busy to take calls, only responded to me via email on Saturday after a week, can't update my AD links so no access for yr7 as the removed that options from the Admin panel last time they upgraded.

Doesn't work in Edge if you use AD integration only chrome. No way of updating Yr7 accounts with email addresses as that's needed to authenticate with AD.

We use the planner feature of Epraise now. Works well as we only have one system now. Good product Epraise and support is first class . Links to sims for parental access too.

Anyone know how to import student email addresses in to the email field. It was configured by my boss last year who left recently, the students log in to SMHW through their google account. It's synced through sims.

Ive just done this myself after a week of SMHW getting back to me, i decided to contact them and lowe and behold, they replied. After a few emails back and forth, i too found that the emails weren't in student accounts so they've sent me an excel document which i need to input all the email addresses into. This is where AD Tidy becomes handy as im able to pull all email addresses from AD into a CSV and marry them up that way. It took about an hour to do.

Timbo343 - any chance you can send me the file or let me know which fields I need?

Thanks

In terms of SMHW file? You have to request it from them. It has all the school data in it with the last column as Email which you fill in and send back to them.

Or have i got the wrong end of the stick and you are needing AD Tidy?

No idea why they do not have the report publically available to admins..... and no way of re-importing it, must cause them so much work each September.

any CMIS schools out there? not sure if its how our timetabler does class groups/timetables but we have a lot of duplicate class groups, 7k-hums for example is assigned to 3 different teachers. who ever is the last to get it in the timetable seems to get the class assigned to them in SMHK. we've obviously been advised that groups cant be duplicates but it turns out we have 33% of duplicate groups across the school! Big headache trying to work out if its going to have a massive knock on effect come report writing time if we change the group naming scheme.

I had to request a list of usernames so I could reupload to match our computer account usernames, took a few emails to finally get the right person so I could the data. Hopefully it doesnt take them too long to process the data as the new year 7s don't have their logins yet.

@gaz350b

We are in the same boat as you, CMIS tell you that is the best way of doing it. We did it like that last year, this year SMHW aren't capable of using the data. They will tell you no other schools have the same problem despite them havign atleast 80 of them using the system and clearly it isn't true.

Think yourself lucky that you have 1 teacher assigned, we have class/ teaching groups with identical names but the same teacher attached twice (for example Science, then Physics, Biology, Chemistry) and SMHW doesn't assign any teachers at all! We also have shared groups that have no teachers assigned not the "last" teacher. Unique groups that they also can't/ won't assign a teacher to but yet can't tell me why it won't work and jsut keep avoiding the issue.

You also have to manaully remove leavers... for data retention reasons apparently... Ridiculous it starts to make a mockery of the Data Protection Act because we have personal data on an online system for no valid reason in my opinion, a homework record is not good enough.

Anyone had this issue before:

All our new year 7s are coming up with an additional parent of "Parent/Guardian" so when they go to print off the codes for those kids they're coming out with an additional code for that parent/guardian user.

I've looked through a students details and associated parents for any odd information in sims but i can't find anything wrong. Any ideas where that's coming from?

I have a couple of year 7s that seem to have two parents for some reason, one is blank and thus two pins. We also ahve Year 7s who have two accounts and others that aren't assigned to any classes. It's ridiculous.

It was down last night (not news to you I am sure) I got a call from a parent to say:

Show My Homework was down yesterday and my son could not logon to see his homework. Can you make sure this doesn't happen again? I work in IT you know.

Um, OK...

And I will also stick a broom up where the Sun doesn't shine so I can sweep the floor at the same time.

...Is unscheduled down time a common occurrence?

Too common for my liking. And more often than our last homework solution, which we have only just stopped using. To be honest I still don't know why we changed. There was nothing wrong with the last one, as far as I could tell.

What was your last one?
