Powerpoint and Youtube videos.

Hi Guys,

 

Been trying to embed videos into powerpoint for an entire day!

 

I have tried everything from disabling my anti-virus, and then downloading a different version of office (32bit to 64bit).

 

I know you can use developer mode and do it that way which works, but you know what some teachers are like.

 

If anyone knows of any fixes that would be great.

-It's updated to current version

-Adobe shock wave installed

powerpoint will only support certain file formats for movies, also it can get grumpy if the path length is overly long or exceeds 256's

supported formats are:

2010

2013

 

codec pack on the machine in question ok?

Youtube videos just don't work in Powerpoint without using the Developer mode fix. Put together a step-by-step guid and leave them to it - it wouldn't be economical to waste any more time on something that we can all tell you doesn't work.

But office 2013 has "insert>video>from internet>youtube" option that we've never got to work. Is this just a dud? How has MS not fixed this?

Yes, this is what i'm trying to get to work. Also it won't let me embed any video. Been going on for too long.

We can't embed YouTube videos into PowerPoints because YouTube is blocked, is YouTube blocked in your school? Embedding local video files works fine.

Yes, it's a dud option that doesn't work. Might work in 2016 now, so they'd probably not be that bothered! It is annoying, but we gave up and the teachers just insert Youtube links now.

I was doing a bit of PowerPoint training today for some of my admin staff and only come across this option for Office 2013. It seemed to work flawlessly for me when I tested it with a random video from youtube.
