Hi all

I've been asked for ideas on how SLT can create an email etiquette and usage policy that might include things like 'no email Friday' etc...

Just wondering if anyone does something like this already and what type of rules / regulations / guidance would you have in such a policy?

Thanks

Didn't have a policy but did produce a guideline at my old place. Don't have access to it now.

One thing I was keen on was the use of BCC for school wide emails (to reduce Reply Alls)

This was tied into "Don't ask for personal/confidential information by email without careful thought" after HR sent out a request for updates to personal info/contact details and one Head of Faculty did a Reply All with their answer.

I do have to wonder why.

If email is the right tool for the job, and it's Friday, why shouldn't it be used?

Thanks for all the suggestions, I agree that limiting use of email on a particular day wouldn't work but I shall put forward the suggestions and hopefully I wont get drafted to write up this policy!

We are currently trying to disuade (is that a word?) people from using AllStaff and maybe target theeir emails slightly better but teachers don't have the time to look through the address book and this way guarantees the people that need to see it will
