Computer screen not aligned with video projector, help please!

I have a smart board in my classroom that uses a UF55 projector. When I open a window on the computer screen I don't see it projected until I move it almost out of view. Anyone know how to sync what I'm seeing on the screen with what I see on the smart board? Tried using the remote but that just moved my actual screen background from side to side or up and down. I DID change the resolution, didn't work. Thanks, any advice much appreciated.

It looks lsounds like you have it extended you need to change it to duplicate

Close all open programs.Right-click an empty area on your desktop, and then click Screen Resolution.

Click the Multiple Displays drop-down list, and then select Extend These Displays or Duplicate These Displays.

The desktop IS showing but not the windows I open up, internet or file windows are out of sight. How do I change to duplicate? I am using Windows 7. Smartboard is SB680 Edited December 30, 2015 by hmunster123

Hold down the Windows key and press P until duplicate is highlighted.

Like MrWobbly said pressing the Windows logo and P will get you the following options, select Duplicate and hopefully that will fix your issue.

Yes, I'm the admin. This is windows xp, pushing the windows logo with P doesn't do anything but thanks for that.

R-click on the desktop and go to Screen Resolution to access the Duplicate/Extended Display Settings. If you have four displays listed click on Identify to see which ones of the four you actually have and disable the remaining ones in Device Manager. I've never seen this happen before. Usually it doesn't pick up the video output unless there is a display actually attached. I assume you have multiple Graphics cards. It sounds like it's giving you a separate display for each output (VGA, DVI, DP, HDMI). Most odd. It's worth updating your drivers too.

 

One more thing, why are you still on XP? Irrespective of how well it still works it now unsupported and must be seen as a risk to the network. Should your network become compromised there will be a lot of shaking of heads and tutting.... "Oh well... XP... Unsupported... Vulnerable... What else has he let slide...". Do yourself a favour, put it in writing to your manager that you consider XP a risk and it needs replacing as you cannot consider it secure. Even if nothing else happens you can consider the buck well and truly passed.

 

You could also play the Unsupported card and say that's why it's causing issues and needs to be replaced.

Poor Catholic school, they won't upgrade this one comptuer. I have to make it work. This problem is driving me nuts. I don't see any selection to choose duplicate or extended.

What Graphics card?

Graphics vendor "Applets" installed?

Have you tried rebooting with the computer connected to the projector?

What modes does the projector support and likewise the graphics card?

Tried pure 1024x768?

Do the Smartboard connect using a sharing device or via a separate graphics port (vga presumably)

 

If it uses a separate graphics card it may have some software supplied with the board that will allow you to configure it

if it has 2 vga ports on the motherboard there may be something in the BIOS

Staff can change the extend desktop with the icon in the bottom right of the screen with the graphics card icon. I have also heard of an oddity with the latest powerpoint where it can change to extended desktop when you exit.

We have a few UF55's on site still, we sometimes get a problem when the image offsets its self by about a foot to the right. Powering the projector of (by the mains) and booting it back up fixes the issue..

I suspect that there is a VGA (or possibly HDMI/dvi) connector as well somewhere
