I'm tearing my hair out here!

I ordered a tablet over the weekend and yesterday got home to find a 'We called but you were out' card on the mat.

Fair enough I think and note the card has a barcode and a tracking code I can use on their website to rearrange delivery.

Great thinks I and promptly tootle off to ukmail.com and try and enter the tracking code only to be greeted with a 'Code not recognised' error. So I try several more times and realise that the card has just been left as a message and it also says that if this is the first attempt at delivery they will try again next day.

Fair enough. So I work from home this morning but have to give it up at lunchtime to get into the office.

When I get home there is a new card on the mat and a different tracking code which this time works with their online system. YAY!!

To make life easier I had selected to pick it up from the UKMail depot in Preston which is only a 10 min drive from my house. It advises me to take the tracking code card and a from of ID with my name/address on. Great stuff. All done. Sorted.

So why have I received a text telling me that it will go out for delivery again tomorrow between 14:30 and 15:30? And why has the online system now been changed to reflect this!

How, how can this be?! I can't take more time off to wait for your delivery guys...again! Words are failing me as to just how bad this 'service' is :(

I've found on more than one occasion that UK Mail, just kinda ignore what you want unless you contact the delivery centre and make a bit of a fuss. I had some bike parts rolling around in the back of a van for a week while they repeatedly ignored my online requests to pick it up from the delivery hub which I drive past on my way home. I ended up going to the place, telling them that's what I wanted and making them take it off the van when it came back that night. I was then able to pick it up the next day!

They did it again today!

According to their online tracking they found 'No access to site'.

Bearing in mind the EduGeek offices are in a shared office complex with buzzers on the main door for some of the larger ones I have had to place a sign next to these with our oiffice and mobile numbers on it saying 'Please ring either of these and I shall come right down'.

From asking around they didn't even try and buzz anyone.

There wasn't even a 'We missed you' card left in the letterbox (essential if you are to use their online services).

Their customer care number is an almost totally automated process and gives no option for talking to a human and it took me many attempts to get it to accept a tracking number (one of several numbers they had given me over the past few days and I had to try each one as it wasn't my 'customer number', 'consignment number' or my 'case number'. Eventually I found it was the 'Dell order number'. Only then was a put trough to a largly uninterested custermer services rep who asked whether I'd like to rescheule it for tomorrow.

I've decided to pick it up from the local depot tonight which is. thankfully, only 5 mins from my house rather than go through this pain again.

We've had a nightmare with them. There's one driver who works this area who is now not welcome on site following a string of issues. During half term in February he repeatedly failed to collect some exam papers which urgently needed shipping, ignoring the note I'd left at reception to call my mobile. After we chased he came back, collected the parcel which was now accessible to him, and promptly rung my number and gave me a load of abuse down the phone.

This is one of the reasons why I only purchase from the High Street or locally. If there is a price difference and I can't afford it until the month after then a little delayed gratification never hurts. I avoid on line shopping (for personal use) wherever I can.
