LeMarchand Posted December 3, 2015 Posted December 3, 2015 Doing it now Upgrade or clean? Let me know how it goes! I've seen mixed reports, though a recent post suggested that the latest build went on without a hitch. Did you back up first? If so, how?
ataylor Posted December 3, 2015 Posted December 3, 2015 Upgrade, No I didn't back it up. Although to my understanding there is a recovery partition.
LeMarchand Posted December 3, 2015 Posted December 3, 2015 No I didn't back it up. B*lls of steel! Let me know how it goes. Mme LeMarchand is visiting the Swedish Circle of Hell tonight (Ikea) so might give it a go.
Garacesh Posted December 3, 2015 Posted December 3, 2015 Upgrade, No I didn't back it up. Although to my understanding there is a recovery partition. Is there? Because the recovery partition isn't likely to be a pre-built iso, it's more likely to be a system restore, no? Once you upgrade it, is that not going to break it? (Then again it's not like we don't know how to reimage things if they break..)

AJWhite1970 Posted December 3, 2015 Posted December 3, 2015 Shocked how fast it is running Mine arrived at lunchtime and I have to say, first impressions are very good, nice and fast. Time to see if it will connect to the domain and run SIMS.... Andrew
AJWhite1970 Posted December 3, 2015 Posted December 3, 2015 Sorry, missed the off the end of my last post... At best these MIGHT just run RDP for remote staff, just got them on a whim to play with. Saying that though, Photoshop CS6 is running quite slowly

ataylor Posted December 3, 2015 Posted December 3, 2015 Win 10 now installed, seems fine, its just moaning about a display driver at the moment - posted from my Win 10 Linx 7 tablet
LeMarchand Posted December 3, 2015 Posted December 3, 2015 Win 10 now installed, seems fine, its just moaning about a display driver at the moment - posted from my Win 10 Linx 7 tablet Rotation, touch + cameras OK?
ataylor Posted December 3, 2015 Posted December 3, 2015 (edited) Touch works, Rotation works, Camera works. It installed a bunch of updates after which has put it into a kind of tablet mode forcing all my programs to run full screen. Still playing with it as I've not used a windows 10 tablet before. I'm sitting around 60% memory use IDLE with only task manager open Just running a few more updates now. Edit: - Figured out how to disable tablet mode! Edited December 3, 2015 by ataylor 1
ataylor Posted December 3, 2015 Posted December 3, 2015 (edited) Windows updates is telling me that a new video driver is available but it fails to install. Feels much smoother outside of tablet mode too! Edited December 3, 2015 by ataylor
LeMarchand Posted December 3, 2015 Posted December 3, 2015 I think you can swap between desktop and tablet modes (somehow). I had update problems on the 8.1 but the troubleshooter fixed them. Never managed to get the store working, though.
ataylor Posted December 3, 2015 Posted December 3, 2015 Yeah swipe in from the right of the screen and the option is there.
dry Posted December 4, 2015 Posted December 4, 2015 So it's almost the end of 'cyber week'! o2 as of yesterday were selling the Microsoft Band (1st generation) for £31.99 if you've got the Priority Moments app, but sadly as of this morning it's been pulled! I don't know if they're going to put it up again or what, but pretty disappointing that it only lasted a day It's worth becoming an o2 Priority Moments member if you're not already- to become one all you need is an o2 SIM card (available from Poundland for a quid or through the mail from o2 for free) and you're in (also gets you £1 lunch on Mondays at Boots/WHSmith/Upper Crust/Dominos too). The SIM doesn't need to be in the phone to use the app either- register once and that's it. They've done some fairly decent deals in the past including £10 voucher (no minimum spend) for free @ the Fragrance Shop and free Christmas cards/calendars and things at WHSmith/o2 shops etc. There's normally some decent restaurant deals too on there. 1
