Hi,

As some of you might know our Intranet is awesome (boast here) but due to teachers requesting new things on it we have actually ran out of room in the design. We want to keep our design as it has evolved over 3 years or so but shape it into something fresh, modern and able to fit our new services (which I need to make for 1st January)

Just wondering really if anyone wants to share their intranet design so that I can built up a good database of intranet designs and features and then bring them all together into one.

Thank you in advance, it will really mean a lot because this has to be right as this will most likely be the last redesign for a long long long time (and most likely my last one)

And of course once it is built I will share it with you all so that you can take inspiration from the final design.

@SovietRussia

All an Intranet should be is s page that has links to things that staff and students use all of the time, basically a quick links page.

Here is ours:

Staff Intranet Page:

Student Intranet Page:

Simple but very effective, if you look at the Staff page you will see a couple of web apps which are bespoke such as the First Aid and the Tech Support and Site Team portals which @webman developed, he is also looking into a toilet control app for the staff which will allow the staff to log which students require the toilet so as we can look into the data and analyse which students may have problems or are just swinging the lead.

He is also working on a new first Aid design which will also help our staff manage the first Aid system much better.

Forgot to mention the SEF (Self Essesment Framework) which helps the SLT keep our school on track with its teaching and learning.

He does build bespoke web apps at a premium but not as expensive as all the others.

Nothing flash but just works cheers @webman :)

Our Intranet is simple but powerful and informative. It shows data and live data and has powerful features such as staffing, access control, IT helpdesk. It switches modules depending on the user via SSO so shows students their timetable, homework and detentions. Just looking for a new design to forge together because literally have ran out of room for all the features that SLT want to add.

Our Student Intranet. Shows a calendar when homework is due, they can also click on the calendar entries to take them direct to the homework. They can see Attendance Data and timetable etc. Links are different to if they access it from home or school, school only resources will only show on the left if they are looking at it from inside school. We purchased a template from Website Templates | WordPress Themes | ThemeForest, we got this template and have used it for out staff and student intranet. Metronic - Responsive Admin Dashboard Template - Site Templates | ThemeForest

@SovietRussia yes yours is ace :D and would love to have a version like that for our intranet page :p, ours is mearly a htm page which has links to other sites and other internal htm pages for things like our staff handbook and policies. All very very basic.

Have you got something on yours which gives a green/ red status of services, like internet connection, internal servers (helpdesks, SIMS, etc)?

Really liking your Intranet @SovietRussia - is it based on SharePoint?

Our offering is somewhat simpler and which we are looking to change as its mainly in Flash and quite awkward to manipulate

SharePoint would be much easier! No its written in PHP, only frameworky bits are using Bootstrap as it's colour scheme.
