Recommend a Windows tablet

I'm looking at potentially rolling out a class set of tablets per dept.

 

A class set of surfaces would be lovely, but realistically it's not going to happen as they are far too expensive.

 

Any recommendations including charging / storing facilities?

I really like HP Pavilion X2s. They're an older model now, but still about. Based on Bay Trail rather than Cherry Trail, they can be specced with Pentium (more cache and faster) CPUs with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. We've found the standard spec of these portable devices (Atom, 2GB RAM, 32GB storage) is not good enough to give a decent lifespan. Remember netbooks?

I've liked the Linx 10 10 model, about £150 and its very nippy.

Not the prettiest or thinnest device, but it's sturdy.

 

Got a class of 15 using them and loving it.

Also got a locked tablet trolley that charges them for a few hours each night.

 

EDIT:

We got ours from novatech, came with Windows 10 pro, so I just joined them to the domain and installed office.

No bloatware on board

We've now got 20 of the Linx pro 10 and they are knocking spots off the acer tabs we also have.

 

They're a bit of a pig to image, to but it's plenty doable.

+1 for the Linx Tablets, I've had one for a while and it's a pretty decent piece of kit - especially for the price...

 

Fujitsu have a new one coming out that I've just seen at their event this week - looks awesome and they're pricing it lower than the Surface, so I'd probably look at the Linx or the new Fujitsu one when it's out...

We have 20 Linx Pro 10 tablets that I put in during the summer holidays, could you please let me know how you went about imaging them? They were bought for staff to use for SIMS, Target Tracker and using the camera on them, but only about 7 or 8 get taken out and used by staff on a daily basis, the others don't seem to want to use them, probably because they are not IPads!

Managed to get my hands on a Linx and was very impressed with it, also allows management and familiarity with desktops.

Not a fan of going cheap and cheerful on those kinds of devices as you pay what you get in most cases, the Linx sounds quite competitively priced and is quite comfortable to use (Galaxy Tab ish)

If you was to go the Linx 10 route make sure you get the Pro version so that you have the option of joining it to your domain.

 

Slightly off topic has anybody had problems with the Camera App that is preinstalled on it? If the tablet it on standby and the user logs back in, opens the camera app, it comes up with a black screen with the take photo button on the side, only way I have found to solve it is to restart the tablet.
