localzuk Posted November 11, 2015 Author Posted November 11, 2015 I get the long load times + the inital lag after connection. The inital connection lag is due to the client getting the chunks loaded. The only way to fix this is to put your client on a ram disk. I'll have to give that a try - got some software somewhere that handles that on Windows.
LiamH Posted November 11, 2015 Posted November 11, 2015 Sadly, I've still been unable to get on. My computer seems to have a real problem with loading up the modpack in general (the game itself crashes on the splash screen) which is most bizarre. So I'm slowly looking into what's causing the problems. Give it more ram if you can, but not more than 4gb or that can cause issues too.
Garacesh Posted November 11, 2015 Posted November 11, 2015 I allocate 12 of 16GB to FTB in the FTB launcher options, and have FTB on my C: drive which is an SSD. I still get the initial server-joining lag/long startup time. Why does allocating over 4GB cause issues..?

I run FTB with 2GB IIRC. The server only has a couple of GB assigned too.

Java is weird is the best explanation, I know 32 bit only supports 4GB, 64bit can handle more. When i tested it out using RR3 i found reducing the initial ram actually improved performance, so i have mine on 3gb.
Geoff Posted November 11, 2015 Posted November 11, 2015 Superfetch precaching the files off your disk I'd guess, unless you had a SSD.
Garacesh Posted November 11, 2015 Posted November 11, 2015 Hm. Maybe I'll drop the RAM allocation to 4GB tonight and see if it makes a difference. Though I am on an x64 OS install and as such, I'm using x64 Java.
LiamHaith Posted November 11, 2015 Posted November 11, 2015 Got my FTB to load up... just need the new IP now (and to check I'm still whitelisted "Haith" is the IGN)

Garacesh Posted November 12, 2015 Posted November 12, 2015 I did not. I wasn't on last night. Played Fallout 4 instead.
localzuk Posted November 12, 2015 Author Posted November 12, 2015 I did not. I wasn't on last night. Played Fallout 4 instead. Traitor!
LiamHaith Posted November 12, 2015 Posted November 12, 2015 I should be on tonight at last. Certainly going to be fun playing catch up.
Garacesh Posted November 12, 2015 Posted November 12, 2015 You won't be catching up to me. I haven't built much non-vanilla stuff yet, since I've been too busy digging out a base.
LiamH Posted November 12, 2015 Posted November 12, 2015 Traitor! Come on, that's got to be at least equally as valid as a note from the doctor. I haven't been on since the Fallout 4 launch
LiamHaith Posted November 12, 2015 Posted November 12, 2015 I will have literally nothing @Garacesh. My first thing is going to be finding some nice real estate for my projects. After that.... it's going to be getting myself situated in a wooden hole.
Geoff Posted November 12, 2015 Posted November 12, 2015 I managed to build my ender quarry, I lost the components for it after the rollback from the server change. I've set it up mining a single chunk over the hill from my main base. RF power is a problem at the moment for it as I'm just using a single lava generator and a tank to run it. I built a painter so I'll be able to hide my enderio conduits properly too. I also found some magic chalk in a village chest! I just need two more now...

LiamHaith Posted November 12, 2015 Posted November 12, 2015 @Garacesh I'm just gonna take refuge in your home, and in return I will fetch you up to date with technology.

I have mine set up in the deep dark running off a tesseract, there is a portal in my base if you wanted to do the same. Much higher ore count.

So far I have a mini farm, a captive mooshroom, some Mystcraft stuff and a tree farm that I'm not sure if it's big enough to grow in yet.. Did we ever get voice comms working?
localzuk Posted November 12, 2015 Author Posted November 12, 2015 My Ender Quarry gets used only when I need some resources now. Last used it in the nether to get Saltpeter so I could make Cyrotheum for my expanded Big Reactor Think something has changed with Big Reactors though, as it is nowhere near as efficient as the simulator says it should be! - - - Updated - - - Sounds like a fair deal! Yeah, use the Discord link posted earlier - its working well. Not been on it for a few days but it works.
LiamHaith Posted November 12, 2015 Posted November 12, 2015 If there are no voice comms present, feel free to utilize the one we use for EVE:O. Just make the relevant (passworded) rooms. Since there are a few guys from a little community using it since their "Leader" stopped paying for theirs, passwords will keep you from the riff-raff

I think i read somewhere that infinity has the fuel costs as 8x normal in the config file
