LiamHaith Posted December 15, 2015 Posted December 15, 2015 I already have the ability to make a giant tinkers smeltery. I already have the Magmatic Crucible and stuff and basic automation. Though my new place is great. Best of all, I'm a good 1000 blocks from everyone else so I can happily mine and quarry away until my heart is content.

Most people running non-renewable automatic resource generation (i.e. ender quarries, as opposed to tree farms or something) are doing so in the underdark Though the Twilight Forest can be good for it, too. You're basically free to do whatever you like in the overworld.

I think tonight I'm going to get a Tree Farm, auto smelt the wood (50/50) for charcoal, then use that to power primitive engines. While I work on creating an area under my "house" to begin quarry operations.

While I work on creating an area under my "house" to begin quarry operations. Water wheels and basic windmills are ridiculously easy to build and generate passive RF. I wish I'd have used them sooner, but I started off on solar panels which are considerably harder to make lol. The only thing you may have a bit of trouble with is building a coke oven to harvest Creosote oil, which I'm sure any of us will happily throw at you in excess. A triple waterwheel (you can stack them together up to 3) over-powers my Harvester that's currently harvesting Industrial Hemp (which is used to make upgraded windmills. I think you need 256 hemp fibre per upgraded windmill, so feel free to steal some from me if need be). If you use Crop Sticks (4 sticks, in a 2x2 square) then you don't even have to re-plant the seeds when the harvester does its thing. Combine that with a water collector (I forget the actual name) which'll catch rainwater, some water channels and a sprinkler (sprinklers don't need power) and you'll have crops out the wazoo, so that's your food sorted. If anything that grows in farmland can be burned in a generator then you've basically got infinite power generation there (albeit at a small amount) Auto tree farms are a bit more tricky. A harvester and a planter will use a decent chunk of power, and if you're using redstone furnaces that's even moreso. You could use a coke oven (I think) to make wood into charcoal for free but that takes longer (though does also provide you with creosote oil), and you'll need a way to dispose of surplus saplings too (I personally feed them back into a generator that burns them to power the farm) Just my experience. You may go at it an entirely different way to me. Have fun!
LiamHaith Posted December 15, 2015 Posted December 15, 2015 Well Gara, you can do it for free in terms of the tree farm using a little sneaky redstone (albeit making it more complicated.) Autonomous activator always planting saplings. Then a redstone signal either side of the sapling with a repeat pointing into the sapling. Once it grows it'll pass the signal through the tree, which then can be sent off to activate another autonomous activator holding a lumber axe to insta-chop + smelt (lava crystal) the entire tree. BOOM, instant charcoal. The saplings can then be fed back into the system, and into a barrel, which can be used to turn into plant balls to turn excess coal into diamonds.
localzuk Posted December 15, 2015 Author Posted December 15, 2015 I just use Steve's Factory manager with an MFR Harvester, an MFR Planter, and a bunch of alloy furnaces, and a bunch of Stirling Engines. Combine with a few barrels and chests, and you've got a tree farm that you can forget about. I set one up at Jedmondson's place.

If your axe has insta-smelt when how do you keep 50% of your wood like you planned? xP Also sod that. I have a 9x9 tree farm producing wood and apples (that I can later ferment to gain power, too). And all I have to do to make it bigger is craft new expanders with better resources.
LiamHaith Posted December 15, 2015 Posted December 15, 2015 @Garacesh, you only load half of the Autonomous activators with Autosmelt... duh! 1 activator does 1 tree.
bald_pig Posted December 15, 2015 Posted December 15, 2015 ...I have an axe. I haven't automated anything, I enjoy running around and doing it myself
LiamHaith Posted December 15, 2015 Posted December 15, 2015 @localzuk I have absolutely no idea what Steve's Factory does. I know it's powerful, but I've never used it before.

I haven't automated anything, I enjoy running around and doing it myself Both of those solutions sound like way too much effort. 1 Activator = 1 tree? This isn't facebook prayers! 1 Harvester = 81 blocks (for now, until I expand it).. Much better
LiamHaith Posted December 15, 2015 Posted December 15, 2015 @Garacesh except mine is environmentally friendly with absolutely 0 power being consumed to produce infinite charcoal.
Garacesh Posted December 15, 2015 Posted December 15, 2015 @Garacesh except mine is environmentally friendly with absolutely 0 power being consumed to produce infinite charcoal. Mine is environmentally friendly too it runs off 3 water wheels, 3 windmills and excess saplings. Zero power draw from external factors. All renewable. Right now the charcoal is stacking up inside a Betterbox (Betterbasket? Whatever, the JABBA single-item crates) and will be used to power my ender quarry when @ADMaster gives me it back
LiamHaith Posted December 15, 2015 Posted December 15, 2015 I don't even have an Ender Quarry. I don't even have a regular quarry, but I can afford one. I'll be leaving ugly holes in the world
localzuk Posted December 15, 2015 Author Posted December 15, 2015 @localzuk I have absolutely no idea what Steve's Factory does. I know it's powerful, but I've never used it before. It's a flow chart based automation system. Only has a few blocks but it's incredibly powerful. Probably my favourite mod.

Sephiroth Posted December 15, 2015 Posted December 15, 2015 I'm in the process of upgrading my Enhanced Energy Conduits to Ender Energy Conduit, so if anyone wants some Enhanced Energy Conduit (5120 RF/t) let me know, as I've got loads going spare now.

ADMaster Posted December 15, 2015 Posted December 15, 2015 @Garacesh I left them in one of your chests on Monday, in any case you have then been after we talked on the server @bald_pig I will leave what I have of energy conduits in one of your chests, I think I have 75.
Sephiroth Posted December 16, 2015 Posted December 16, 2015 @bald_pig there's just over 3 stacks in your storage now. I also threw in an extra present for you. Merry Christmas!
Garacesh Posted December 16, 2015 Posted December 16, 2015 @bald_pig there's just over 3 stacks in your storage now. I also threw in an extra present for you. Merry Christmas! Hint: It's probably cicada. Edit: Speaking of cicada, apparently I'm being blamed for something now? @LiamHaith?
LiamHaith Posted December 16, 2015 Posted December 16, 2015 @Garacesh, you know what you did - Evil Wizard. Encircling my house in burning grass, covering EVERY possible square of my structure with Cicada. Even if it wasn't you, I'm blaming you.
Sephiroth Posted December 16, 2015 Posted December 16, 2015 Hint: It's probably cicada. It's not actually. Though now that you mention it...
Garacesh Posted December 16, 2015 Posted December 16, 2015 Even if it wasn't you, I'm blaming you. Sounds about right. Guessing you found a new place to live now, that's sufficiently far away from all of us? It's as if you don't trust us or something
