Is anyone using Apple Configurator 2. Just updated to El Capitan and Configurator 2, but when I attempt to use the Migration Assistant to pull in the data from 1.7.2 it errors out

"An Underlying Service (ACUMigrationServiceContext) unexpectedly quit."

If anyone has had the same, or knows away round it... any help would be greatly received.

Just been looking at this, came on here to check if anyone had any issues.

And have exactly the same !

Newly updated OSX on a MacBook air, fails with that error every time I try and run the migration tool.

I notice there is no Help file either.

Looks like the release was a bit rushed.

I got migration working.... but it created two "blueprints" one is my standard wipe, manage and policy dump for wi-fi and trust cert. The other was based on the last iPad I managed with the old configurator and have no idea what the hell it's doing.

The layout of Config2 is mind bogglingly bad, why don't I have a list of managed devices, or am I supposed to and it just didn't bother to migrate it? Why can't I seemingly delete blueprints, more to the point what in the living hell are blueprints and why can't I change settings in them?

I thought this new version was supposed to be easier to use, it looks anything but.

I have it installed and found it a bit complicated at first, it's created lots of blueprints when I only had 1 set of confide, my main problem is that it seems to not like certain things, mine won't add apps on the machine and will only work off App Store apps and sits there doing nothing on some operations, I do welcome the additional things that can be locked off

I've managed to get it working and I'm a little underwhelmed to be honest. It's a new interface but ultimately you only get a handful more management options.

I wish they'd do something like the hudl where you can limit users to a set of specified apps. As it is configurator 2 has only given me the passcode and wallpaper options which are handy but hardly a massive improvement.

My only thank you to Apple, is that they didn't ditch Configurator... It goes no further than that.

I might report back next Friday eating humble pie, however I currently think Apple have taken a few backwards steps with the UI.

I have to say, this is a massive pile of carp. However I have it behaving the way I want it to APART from the wallpaper setting. I am trying to chose a wallpaper and it will not use the image I am chosing!

Any help?

I eventually went back to the old fashioned way and downloaded the IPA's through iTunes and added them that way. Seems to be working now fingers crossed.

Been playing with this today... it doesn't seem to have added any of my security settings and it won't install apps... I've got a shiny new wallpaper though!

Perhaps I'm being a little thick but ...... long story short, old MacBook Air with the old configurator on died new MacBook Air purchased and Configurator 2 installed. Decided to start again with the profile and apps but we have a bunch of old iPad 2's all nice and clean and we can't supervise them like we used to in the old configurator so no auto numbering or lock screen :( Am I missing something ?

I found the same thing, we have a new Mac and I had to download Configurator 2. We have always created a template which includes bookmarks and Apps in folders. With 2 you can restore a backup but is automatically unsupervises the devices. I tried everything, using blueprints I couldn't organise the apps. I eventually gave up and got a copy of Configurator and have gone back to using it as it does what we need.

I've got 1.7.2 I can upload if anyone wants it.

I installed 1.7.2 to upgrade from 1.4 as I upgraded to El Captain but now it just crashes. Not sure what to do!

I had a back up from one of the other Mac's we used at another campus so was able to get it from there. I would be interested if there was anyone else using Configurator in an educational setting that has the same issues with 2 not meeting the needs of organisations where devices are shared and the ability to deploy different images is important.

Config 2 straight up garbage, anyone who tested it and provided Apple with feedback during the beta should be ashamed of themselves.

I can get it to work with my work flow as I use Casper MDM so my usage of Config 2 its kept at a minimum.

I still don't know how to delete a blueprint, awful UI design.

Yeah you no longer seem to be able to assign an iPad to someone. We have 1-1 here so that was one of the main features I used. Like others I will be sticking to the old version.

Looks like Config 2 is really just for adding iPads to a MDM solution on a mac server or third party MDM, get schools to setup iPads with our free solution they pull the rug from under them years later leaving them with only pay options...
