Hi All,

Hopefully some of you may be able to help as I am very confused.

I would like to implement SCCM to use for deployment of Windows 7 and Windows 10. At this present moment I am not wishing to use any of the other features apart from Deployment.

Is anybody able to point me in the direction of a good guide or able to give me some pointers of where to start as at the moment I feel completely baffled.

Many Thanks

Tom

Don't.

Instead use MDT and WDS. MDT will allow you to customise your deployment and WDS will provide the mechanism. SCCM will work with both at a later point but for what you need just use MDT and WDS.

Normally I'd recommend SCCM , but if all you want to do is Deploy, then it's a tad overkill

As already mentioned - use MDT 2013 Update 1 with WDS to deploy the OS's

SCCM has plenty of other toys.. but if you are only doing OS deployment then MDT is more than enough to handle this...

I agree with the comments above. I implemented sccm 2012r2 over the summer and so far have app deployment, scep and windows updates setup but having a few issues with capture and deployment. It's a great bit of kit but I wish I had done a course first.

A large +1 for windows-noob.com - great resource for MDT and SCCM.

I would recommend sticking with SCCM if you are using system center endpoint protection on the clients. However, if you can't afford to do the courses and do not have the time to spend fiddling with it and getting to know it manually (6 months would be ideal with a normal workload) then stick with the basics first.

If you find later on you wish to use it's extended features, MDT integrates nicely with it so you'll not be too far out of depth.
