kennysarmy Posted January 10, 2008 Posted January 10, 2008 Head of Dept. wants a combined colour laser printer/scanner. Don't remember seeing such a device....anyone?
ConTheITGuy Posted January 10, 2008 Posted January 10, 2008 Might be a bit big... Also, how about the networkable photocopiers. We have a Tosh EStudio something or another which does printing from the network and scanning. We have a rental agreement on ours which includes toner - maybe something worth looking at? Andy
dhicks Posted January 10, 2008 Posted January 10, 2008 Head of Dept. wants a combined colour laser printer/scanner. I've been looking at exactly the same thing just recently. For a smaller device, you want an "all in one". Colour laser all-in-one's like the HP CM1015 seem to start at around £150, although I'm not sure how much toners are. Inkjet versions are also available (from around £50), although again the running costs will be high. If you can afford a larger up-front payment, get a decent model (around £600), it'll cost less in the long run on toner replacements. Searching Google for "laser all in one" will get you a good set of results to start looking at. For a larger machine, get a photocopier as Andy suggested. There is no difference between a network-capable "photocopier" and "printer" these days. -- David Hicks
kennysarmy Posted January 10, 2008 Author Posted January 10, 2008 Thanks. The HP CM1015 is just what I was looking for
elsiegee40 Posted January 10, 2008 Posted January 10, 2008 Head of Dept. wants a combined colour laser printer/scanner. Sounds expensive - we've just replaced our photocopier and our refused to pay for a colour one that the teachers requested - they have mono!
Domino Posted January 10, 2008 Posted January 10, 2008 teachers requested - they have mono! your teachers have mono..? call a doctor! infectious mononucleosis: an acute disease characterized by fever and swollen lymph nodes and an abnormal increase of mononuclear leucocytes or monocytes in the bloodstream; not highly contagious; some believe it can be transmitted by kissing
apeo Posted January 10, 2008 Posted January 10, 2008 Man i hate the all-in-one/combo things.. so many things that can and often go wrong.
ricki Posted January 10, 2008 Posted January 10, 2008 Photocopiers are great when they are under contract as its not your problem when they go wrong. Lols Richard
srochford Posted January 10, 2008 Posted January 10, 2008 By chance, Misco have the HP COLOUR LASERJET 2840 MFP in their offers today - £540.49 inc VAT but with £200 cash back from HP - details at http://www.misco.co.uk/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?Sku=101703
maniac Posted January 11, 2008 Posted January 11, 2008 I hate these all in one things. Staff in our school have a small obsession with them, often it's just lazyness on the part of the member of staff not wanting to goto reprographics for copying. We spend a fortune on toner for the ones of these that have managed to find their way into school, waaaay more than a proper colour copier costs to run. The only good thing about these devices is normally the scanner funtionality is networkable, meaning several people can share the one unit in an office for scanning purposes, however to take advantage of this, each machine must make its own connection to the device, you can't share it via a print server. Mike.
plexer Posted January 11, 2008 Posted January 11, 2008 The 2840 all in one is £439 from dabs4work then you can claim the £200 cash back from HP. 3N7GWS is the quicklink. Ben
john Posted January 11, 2008 Posted January 11, 2008 Sounds expensive - we've just replaced our photocopier and our refused to pay for a colour one that the teachers requested - they have mono! You've been done a bad deal on your copier. I haven't had a quote in 2 years where the mono machine is cheaper to get either on rental or purchase than the equivalent colour machine (assuming your matching the black spec and just getting the colour as its included as it were and not fussing over it). The running costs from the last 3 firms I got prices from were identical for the mono on a mono only and a colour machine.
