haldarulon Posted August 11, 2015 Posted August 11, 2015 After months of it sitting on the shelf gathering dust I am finally getting rid of the PS4 I bought it day 1 and when all my mates asked what I thought of it at the time I said "it is the best waste of money I have ever spent!" that statement is still true, the release of games worth buying on the console are few and far between. I love indie games but unfortunately all the games coming on the PS4 I have in my steam collection (and most have been out MONTHS on PC before PS4 Release!) The fact now that they are raising the monthly subscription and for what rehashed old games and indie games I already own just does not seem worth it at all. I think the decline in my console gaming is the emergence of titles coming out on the PC! so I just swapped it with my nephew for his XBOXONE where I can play more rehashes of old games, but ones I have not played. and to top it all I now need to get rid of my Vita anyone else kind of thinking the same thing or am I just being picky? The deal for the xboxone hasn't been done yet, can you persuade me to stay or shall I go? answer the poll but leave comments
Blue_Cookeh Posted August 11, 2015 Posted August 11, 2015 Do you have PS Plus? It's well worth the money IMO.
CAM Posted August 11, 2015 Posted August 11, 2015 I have PS+ but I haven't played many games lately, let alone PS+ ones. And a lot are on Steam anyway. Not convinced it is worth the money now! I rarely play online and not much attracting me to the PS4 atm.
Davit2005 Posted August 11, 2015 Posted August 11, 2015 Think I am going back to my C64 or PS1 I can't stand games where you have to pay for extra goodies when before it was only down to talent. Many hours I have spent on older Need for Speed before now just looking forward to either spending the winnings on mods or new vehicles but that seems a bit different now.
Garacesh Posted August 12, 2015 Posted August 12, 2015 I'd personally (if I were to buy a next-gen console) buy the PS4 over the XB1, so I voted keep. But that's just me. I didn't really get a massive amount of use out of my 360, yet I still play my PS2.. Then again with the majority of games being cross-platform*, does it really matter? The XB1 exclusives (mostly Halo, I think?) I don't care for. But since most of my gaming is done on PC, it's kind of a moot point. I s'pose if you're not using it and you'll use an XB1, it makes sense to swap. * Read: PS4, XB1 and a s:censored:y PC port.

Got to say this is EXACTLY how I feel about the PS+...and don't get me started on the vita side of things!
Davit2005 Posted August 12, 2015 Posted August 12, 2015 Historically I went for the PlayStation because of the driving games i.e. Colin McCrae, Touring Car Championship, vRally etc.
round2it Posted August 12, 2015 Posted August 12, 2015 Rocking the ps2 at the moment, the ps4 is sat doing nothing just like the vita (just finished killzone for the vita) very impressed
haldarulon Posted August 13, 2015 Author Posted August 13, 2015 So looking at the poll it was a swap.. so i went with it Thanks for the feedback. I think it's clear to see that console gaming is not what it used to be. And the feeling about pc gaming making a long anticipated entry in to the market is coming true...also the fact I am now 40 odd and would like to think I am a grown up ... well a little bit!
CAM Posted August 13, 2015 Posted August 13, 2015 I'm going to bring out the crazy.... Wii U. It's finally in a position making it perfect accompaniment for PC gaming. You get Nintendo IP titles, you get some indie titles too. Then you get the odd stuff that Nintendo are doing like NES Remix. And you get access to Virtual Console. Yes it's a lot of rehashed stuff, but it's good stuff not on other platforms. Stuff worth buying on the Wii U: - Mario Kart 8 (The 8 gives away its a sequel of a sequel of a sequel....but best in it's series IMO). - Splatoon, a new IP that is proving very popular and on my 'to get' list. - Donkey Kong, rock hard platforming. - Mario Maker, on the horizon and I won't shut up about it for good reason. - Classic Mario titles (again). - Then various stuff I haven't picked up but meaning to try, like Warriors of Hyrule which is a cross between Zelda and Dynasty Warriors. Only the classic titles I can get on PC whilst everything on my PS4 aside from Destiny I can find in Origin or Steam. Makes for a handy Blu-Ray player though....
BassTech Posted August 13, 2015 Posted August 13, 2015 I have a PS4 and gaming PC, I probably prefer the PS4 overall. I like to just get in from work lay on the couch and have a quick game on something (currently addicted to Rocket League). I find that the PC is better for single-player, racing sims & strategy games, but I prefer the PS4 for multiplayer & casual gaming.

I have enough CEX credit to go and get a used one....*insert your own expletive here!* CAM! you just started a fire in my pocket! lol
haldarulon Posted August 13, 2015 Author Posted August 13, 2015 miiverse...nooooooo that means my 3ds character can jump across! he made a shed load of friends at gamescom!
sted Posted August 13, 2015 Posted August 13, 2015 ive had every ps bar the 4 and they always end up being the least used console i own. my ps3 is basically a blueray player and ive got 4 games for it. xbox one ive used soo much the 500gb drive has <4gb free and a whole shelf fill of 360 games. honestly though atm ive not seen a ps4 exclusive worth playing never mind buying a console for and im spending more time on the wiiu playing old virtual console games
ICTDirect_Dave Posted August 13, 2015 Posted August 13, 2015 I rarely game on my XB1 now(PES2015 and Halo aside), but it's still useful for the kinect features. My boy loves playing kinect sports, trials fusion, Abe's Odyssey (New 'n Tasty) and castle storm and the fitness app really is clever. My wife loves it as it monitors you during your workout and scores you. She's competitive and tries to make sure she' far better than the verage for her age group and body type. It also makes a handy media player, linking nicely with my pc and a hdd that i have plugged in for more local storage. I'm definitely keeping it around even though I game mostly on the PC now.
SupermanPunch Posted August 18, 2015 Posted August 18, 2015 I am in the similiar boat to you, all I use my ps4 is netflix. I bought a xbox one thinking lack of quality exclusives for the ps4 was the reason I was not enjoying this gen, biggest mistake I made. Bought the witcher alongside it and it took half a day for it to install on the xbox one. Ended up buying it for the ps4 and was playing it within 20 minutes. Looked online and found out this is a common complaint towards the xbox one. Ended up selling the xbox one without loss. I am now wondering if it is worth keeping the ps4 beyond uncharted 4 due to not many appealing titles coming out afterwards and buying a roku 3 box if Netflix is all I use it for. In regards to gaming, the novelty has worn off IMO, the quality of titles last gen has set the bar high and there has not been anything original out which makes me want to play games this gen.
sparkeh Posted August 18, 2015 Posted August 18, 2015 Interesting thread. Personally, I have just about left both Console and PC gaming behind. All my gaming is now done on the iPad. Currently playing GTA Vice City and Year Walk. Perhaps I am harking back to times past but good games made with more limited resources have to have good gameplay and story rather than just hit you with flashy graphics. Don't miss the console or PC at all.
SupermanPunch Posted August 18, 2015 Posted August 18, 2015 I am going through nostalgia phase, where I have downloaded classics on my phone i.e. r type, gta vice city, sonic and even got a emulator to play Mario. Mainly play these games on the go i.e. train. Might get a 3ds to play Zelda ocarina of time.
ICTDirect_Dave Posted August 18, 2015 Posted August 18, 2015 Speaking of iPads, I'm currently loving playing sid mier's Starships on mine. It's a great game. A perfect representation of board game systems put into a game
Davit2005 Posted August 18, 2015 Posted August 18, 2015 (edited) Seriously considering getting an old BBC Micro B that I used in secondary school with some games on disk and selling the PS3. Edited August 18, 2015 by Davit2005
gshaw Posted August 18, 2015 Posted August 18, 2015 I'm sticking with my PS3, back catalogue of old games and a gaming PC for anything new (Fallout 4, Deus Ex etc.) I refuse to be taken in by the "pay to win" and subscription models being forced on consoles now, it's got so bad these days I've even dumped FIFA which I thought I'd never do. That game is a shadow of what it once was, doesn't even resemble a football sim these days and just seems to be there to prey on kids who don't know any better than to hand £50+ a time over for what's effectively under-18 gambling
haldarulon Posted September 22, 2015 Author Posted September 22, 2015 So I made the swap... as per the poll! and the xBONE has not even been turned on since trying it to make sure it works!
